Which was a better movie: The Empire Strikes Back or Revenge of the Sith

Empire has a much darker ending in my opinion... the stakes are much higher.

ROTS was a happy ending to me. I mean c'mon, the twins are fine, Vader's gone badass, Obi-Wan's smiling, Padme's dead.

A lovely ending.

A bit much to bring to a fast happy end, but okay. Lucas dumped Gary Kurtz to do it himself and that is what you get.

He should have brought back Irving Kershner. He did a great dark SW in the OT, I'd like to see how he'd handle the PT's equivalent.

Gary Kurtz would have been good enough. I think Marquand did a very decent job, it's the script/story that's faulty. Lucas was trying to wrap EVERYTHING up in a nice package.

I think the end of ROTS was more "promising" then happy. Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru staring off into the binary sunset, it's a nice linkage to the OT, reminding everyone that there's hope, and in the next Episode, that new hope is brought foward.

Yeah. And then there's the ugly camel thing that Obi-Wan rides that reminds us of how childish the whole PT was and totally kills the mood.

I did miss a fart joke at the end of ROTS....

Well what was Obi-Wan supposed to be riding? lol There's not a whole lot on Tatooine.

How is it possible to get so easily annoyed?

I'd have prefered he just walked off into the distance... or at least rode something less childish and more realistic. Even a Bantha would have been better.
