seiously most of us collect comics because of the here and now but when time comes what will you do with them?
will you even still be collecting comics 🙁

Umm well surely the price of some of em will increase after a long time........

Well as a collector of 30 years only a few really get valuable, strangely my most beloved are some of my most valuable from a fiscal standpoint. But thats only because they had small print runs. Independant comics which have small print runs are your best bet for comics as investments if thats what your after🙁 If it is I feel sorry for you 🙁
Examples of comics I could make money on :

Miracleman as the legal dispute keeps it out of print
First 2000AD appearances of Dredd
things like Hellboy, Concrete, Appleseed, Akira, Grendl first editions etc.

Mainstream ones like Giant size Xmen 1 are good because no one knew the New Xmen would be popular. At the mo Supreme Power 1 is a hottie as is the original Ultimates and the Authority 🙂

I wouldn't sell mine though unless I had to and I have 30 years worth 😄

Do the Math🙂

perhaps but honestly know..what will you do...
alot of peole say how the comic's value will increae and they'll do somrthing about it to cash in on it but how many will or are determined to do that i think that most likely it will be left to wither away torn and stuff, perhaps it will be past down or pawned but not howwe want it to be.

Probably keep them, hand them down either to kids of my own if I have any or to my brothers.

that is what i was thinking and is most likely to happen to the average comic reader

If you buy them for profit its sad🙁 that aside some will be kept away from youngsters till they are old enough to appreciate them 🙂

yer i agree i'll try find a girl that's into comics as if i don't probably she might find comics childish ausing effects on how i associate with comics and what i'll do with them. but i'll most likley past my comics down 😎

I'll keep mine, make sure they're packed up nicely and put them in storage, pulling them out from time to time to reread and reminesce. I'll end up giving them to my kids, or nephews or someone--as I have all of my father's comics that survived, so I think it's only fair I should pass mine on, once the children are old enough and responsible enough.

i'm considering getting mine buried with me

lol

i've been collecting for just over ten years, i've spent quite a tidy sum on them over that period.... but i doubt i'd ever consider selling them..... that would only ever be a possibility if someone offered me a ridiculously overpriced amount for them..... i'm talking a crapload more than they're actually worth

as for passing them down to kids.... well, i'd have conditions for that..... they'd have to have developed their own interest in comics, be shown to be responsible with them (not throw them on the floor or bend back the pages).... and be at least 15 years old

until all those criteria are met they may only view my comics from behind a Plexiglas wall

The 15-year-old limit is good, but for other reasons than Scoob stated (I'd want them firmly grounded in reality before handing them a comic).

But I'll pass mine down. I'm not one to collect too much, and any use I find for something is a good one, so as soon as I have nephews/kids/students (I'll be a teacher soon) who are interested I'll pass them off to others who will appreciate them.

I just thought about it all the modern comics we collect will eventually be essentials perhaps seeing how quick marvel like to dish them out perhaps in the next 10- 15 years.

me, im the kinda guy where i only collect TPBs to save on space, and single issues when i really really cant do any better. i dont think any of mine will be worth anything so i dont worry about that, but just the satisfaction of knowing that i got a lot of complete series is good enuff for me...ergo im keeping mine forver!! and not passing them down to anybody.

the only time they might be worth anything is if like 100 years from now when the entire mythology, story lines, canon, secret origins, and overall universe of every single charcter is started all over again. like the way that frank miller is running the current batman and robin, with dick as a little kid, after all that develops over the years, and dick grows up and leaves and makes way for jason todd(providing that good ol frank doesnt live up to his rep. and quit, or does something dumb to get fired over) you can expect titles like no man's land, and war games and such to be highly sought after, cuz the frank miller stuff would be the new canon, the new benchmark if you will, and it would be like all the other stuff never happened.

the same way the entire arc, and universe where doomsday killed supes has long since been deleted, but it's still referenced in current supes canon today. despite the fact that in those days Matrix was supergirl, and Lex was actually a bioengineered red headed clone...they leave that part out of course.

lets get it starting again

i collect in trades too, what about anybody else what are they going to do with thier collection

I could NEVER sell any of my comics, not even the crappy ones. I'm way too attached to them. In fact, the thought of losing them (if a fire broke out or something) makes me shiver.
