Sen. John McCain's birthday is the 29th of August and that photo was indeed taken on the 29th of August - according to several sources. I'm not going to get into a war of the words with you because frankly you're not worth the time and effort.

Now really...if he was at that place, what does it matter.....he'S not allowed to go somewhere....I mean what could he have done better if he was in the White House?...Probably not much.

^ Yes

Now i would like to point out this. There were some pictures with captions, from different agencies within the US.

The First Picture Shows a black man and the caption reads:

A citizen from New Orleans wading in chest deep water after looting some goods from a store

The second picture shows 2 White people and the caption reads:

A Couple wading through water after they found some bread and food

--

See what i am pointing out ?

So the black man looted the goods while the white people 'found' them.

GCG, I totally agree with your point. It is absolutely disgusting how these poor people are being portrayed. Certain sections of the American media seem delighted in this opportunity to portray black people as animals.

The suffering is indiscriminate in New Orleans, but it is important to note that the majority of the victims are poor people - not black people, not white people, just poor people.

At the same time, it is terribly sad to hear about reports of children being raped, idiots shooting at rescue helicopters and some cases of 'looting'. In regards to the 'looting', these people were starving and saw no hope on the horizon, so of course they would do anything to get the food and water they needed to survive. Any human would do the same. The same cannot be said for the people stealing TVs...

Well imo the US should have responded much better to the disaster based on the unlimited resources they have. They do!

Also most people take a natural disaster seriously only if it hits the or kills someone you know.

One thing i don't get is in Calgary Canada a lady was able to leave the convention center in New Orleans on Wed while people are still stuck there today. She said she was rescued by the national guard???

Many lessons are learned from this...
1. Govt does not care about poor people
2. The US is still a very racist society
3. This shows the US or heck any country is not ready for such a disaster.
4. Never underestimate the power of nature

If a major Natural disaster is going to hit your area you should evacuate. The seriousness of this situation will only set in when we get the real death tolls. Then Bush will be as popular as Richard Nixon.

Also on Children dieing around the world people should send there money there more however corrupt Govt will have to toppled before anything good can happen there. I heard that in Nigeria that there Govt has wasted 500 billion dollars over many decades. Thats why people won't donate much there. It won't go anywhere. I still do.

A man from Sri Lanka wrote an e-mail; it went :

In the aftermath of the tsunami that struck Sri Lanka, the locals did their utmost to help tourists find their way out of stricken areas even if they (the locals) had lost most of their possesions themselves.

In America, tourists were scoffed, mugged and raped.

then it ended in :

....Now we know where the civilised people live.

I think that comment really reflected the facts on comparing the disasters.

Another point :

Private Hospitals, with a low patient count, were given evacuation priority at the expense of the Public Hospital's 120 bed-ridden patients.

As a matter of fact the Public Hospital had patients with low or no income at all.

I am thinking that this disaster has shown a face a Free America does not reflect; an attitude that does not do good to the American people and an uncalled bureaucracy in times of stressful need. New Orleans mayopr has said he wants to see the action now that the ball is rolling, but he will be looking for irresponsables who so procrastinated the reliefs and aid to the victims based on racial and class basis.

well said...

New Orleans is a majority made up of minorities. Funny how there is so much rapeing, looting, and killing going on down there. I doubt that would happen in say..Orange County or San Fransisco

I have heard on the news (was expected ! ) that Al-Zarqawi has 'congratulated' Bin Laden on the recent Hurricane Katrina's aftermath saying that its the beginning of America's downfall.

What a moron ; he speaks as if he done it himself !

Actually, I'd be willing to bet that anywhere a disaster like this occured, such things would happen, regardless of the number of minorities that live there.

The main problem was that nobody was shouldering the task; The National Guard said " Oh ! Nobody asked us ! while the feds said Its the national guard's job and so on and so forth they kept passing the buck around the agencies until the efforts finally got uunderway.

For crying out loud, hundreds of thousands of people were stuck in a swamp of dirt, water, decomposing bodies and animal carcasses and oil without hygenic facilities which translated into a perfect breeding ground for disease.

It looked like Racoon City (minus the water) of resident Evil !

Erm... that wasn't the problem. 😬

I would love to see what it'd be like if roles and status were reversed between rich white people and everybody else.

I wonder how "civilized" the white people would be.... if they were brought to America as slaves, or raped of their own homeland, or suffered hundreds of years racism and/or obvious oppression.

Funny how easy it is for conservatives to only look at the present, where white people are so "good & fair".

The present is a direct result of the past... and the raping, looting, and killing in New Orleans is disgusting.

I ask a serious question though. If you were living in hell, after your guardian angels gave you the finger, would you go with the flow?

enlighten me Snoopbert

MODS, see why another thread is necessary!!!!
