From the BBC story:

Yes, but, as the original story where the fact that Bush called came from said, it was SHORTLY BEFORE the press conference - the press conference called to order an evacuation. Bush had nothing to do with the decision to perform the first-ever evacuation of a major metropolitan area in the United States.

If you get nothing else out of this post, remember this: the press conference was made before the president ever called. the decision to evacuate was made before the president ever called. Just beacuse some news stories omitted this key fact (that was in the original story). As the original story said:

you posted this earlier...

yes he called, no his call had nothing to do with the evacuation call. He called Governor Blanco at 9:00 am. They called for the evacuation at 9:30 am

so either the time line is

presidents call...desicion made....press conferene

desicion made...presidents call...press conference

or

desicion made...press conference...presidents call

please clarify which one is right 🙂

i meant hte press conference was organized before the president called. Obviously a decision is made before a press conference is organized. So the order would be:

decision...press conference organized...president call...press conference

yeah, how would i have ever made the mistake of calling you barbara bush? what you're saying is wrong. you want the people of new orleans to pay for their own rebuilding? something that will cost dozens if not hundreds of billions of dollars? you're calling the relief efforts 'personal gain'? No, we have a responsibility to help our fellow citizens in their time of need.

Yes, I want the people of New Orleans to pay for the re-builing efforts. I'm not saying they should pay for it alone, but they should certainly help pay for it. Now, these people who surive on about a hundred dollars a week before the hurricane are being transported to other citys and are given brand new apartments. I watched an 80 year old black man being taken to Texas and shown his "new home". The report went on to say that the man had lived in NO on social security of about a hundred dollars a week. This guy is being given a very nice apartment, that he otherwise wouldn't have if it weren't for this hurricane. The problem I have with you comparing me to Barbara Bush, is that she's just an snob. She has an issue with anybody getting anything. I, however, have taken into consideration the real future this guy is going to facce. I'm outraged because I wish I had a brand new apartment, rent-free...because the god these conservative christians pray to allowed this to happen in the first place. Now, when the guy who owns the apartment building was being interviewed, he said that he wasn't worried about the fact that the guy couldn't pay for the apartment. So, what's gonna happen to this old man when the charity wears off? He's going to be tossed out...AGAIN! And the landlord said that he would worry about paying for it later....well, that just means this functionally illiterate, sick old man is going to have plenty of help filling out his finacial aide paperwork for federal disaster relief. Beyond that, guess what? The insurance industry isn't going to pay for it. A catastrophe of this magnitude will bankrupt the insurance industry and the government will foot the bill for the whole damn thing. Which is basically us. So, since it's the responsability of the government, which is funded by taxes, which we the people pay...then why not have free healthcare for all? If we're going to become a socialist society, then why not just admit we already are and move on with life?

If you think that this hurricane entitles someone to more than they have earned, then you can call me Barbra Bush all you want.(notice I said earned, not deserve)

i had a link to a white house memo that said the exact time that bush called, i don't know if i lost it or if they took it down or what... or maybe i'm just hallucinating.

some lefty ammo...surprised no-ones on the ball enough to have posted it already

but never let it be said that i dont at least try to be balanced

Come on, I always have been. I'll go back to a personal pic when the time is right. I will always identify with him. What reason do I have for not doing so? He kinda represents everything I believe in. If they do not follow out of logic, then they should be forced to follow out of...well... force.

No the bodies are being just left there open in the streets and no ones who will pick it up DRACO. STOP! watching that stupid sensitive American news and watch more "realistic" international news like the BBC or CNN International. They really show whats going on however CNN domestic has lately shown some very mutilated bodies. Very disturbing that was. BBC guy showed us A body on Tuesday that was still there this Friday!!!

Like come one the Govt thinks were all stupid. They say please don't take pictures of dead people but leave them there for a week. There was nothing wrong with showing thousands of dead people in the Tsunami. It actually helped with the situation. When CNN showed that piece of thousands of dead bodies being pushed into a mass grave it made so so sad and it really woke me up and i and many helped. I mean they should not show dead people who are not in body bags because a family may see someone. However the media need to tell the people look a hurricane came and killed as many people as 9/11. I don't know if its another screwup or another cover up??

However there conflicts on death tolls. Some guys say not that many died as we think. Other guys says many bodies all over the place. we have no idea how many died in the storm. Its week 2 and thats when we reach the stage of how many died. This will be the main point and i hope the media shows how many died. they can show the reefer trucks going into a morgue. That shows a more chilling message then a dead body really.

Some good news i hope.

Well lets not speculate to much or who knows what evils we may find in the worst hit areas???

I still don't understand how during 9/11 the death toll went from 5,000 to 3,000. I never knew the reason?

because they were saying everyone who was missing was dead, and as people were no longer missing, they weren't considered dead. they couldnt' exactly count bodies during 9/11.

Proof that CNN is liberal television http://thatvideosite.com/view/629.html

I think they could count by missing reports and long long long investigation.

Sorry about that. It was supposed to be two different pictures, and for some reason, the first one I posted changed into the second one I was posting. And because of that ridiculous 15 minute rule, I can't change it
