Why not?

because that would be messing with the characters history... we're not saying:

"right i'm taking steve rogers after the super soldier experiment and putting him into the science experiment that turned Peter into Spider-Man"

we're taking the characters as they are... unless some aspect of them multiplies their abilities (like Batman Beyond's suit or Venom's symbiote)

you only get the strength of the strongest one, the speed of the fastest. etc.....

if you take Spidey and Cap then you only get Spidey's physical benefits... Cap becomes practically useless (physically speaking)

Okay, well, that's exactly what I'm doing. Taking a symbiote that gives a proportional upgrade and sticking it on my strongest character. Without the symbiote, Grail was just average human. Not even quite at peak human by comic standards.

i know... that's fine.... i was just saying it for the other guy... who was trying to multiply Deathstroke by the Scorpion, rather than staying within the rules and just using his strongest guy

Ohhh lol. Never mind me, then.

You can think whatever you like for Scorpion's upgrading DS. I'm not setting exact definitions for them. I don't think it's would enhance it to 100, but I also think he'd be beyond 15. But that's me. And there's other factors in the fight to consider too.

when do the fights end?

Congrats to Jinzin and Stormfront on their victories. You guys will meet in the next round. We now have 4 of 8 in the quarterfinals.

Remember, we'll still have a first-round loser's fight to get a chance to compete for 3rd-through-5th, so if you're interested in that you can stay tuned to the tourney.

We had 30 votes for 8BC/SF's match!! Not quite sure how that happened, but that's a magnificent turnout. Hopefully that level of interest continues. Current matches are LP/KVD and zachrivard/Dr. SH

Congratulations Jinzin!

Thanks to everyone who voted in our match.

I must say though, I feel Dizzle's pain. I think the same lack of familiarity scuttled us both, especially since the most often given reason for voting for my opponent was that his amalgam was stronger and faster. Why do we even bother with tactics then?

Ah well, enough sour grapes. What colors would you like for Kahuna's picture Jin?

Can anyone fill me in on how my battle ended?

Last time I saw Laminator and Jinzin had just tied it up for me 🙂. (That was just a quickly glance after I got home though.)

Nevermind I just saw it.

Congratulations on the amalgam SF.

Thanks to everyone who voted for me. To me, my list read like a KMC allstar list. I respect a lot of you guys and I appreciate your votes and opinions. That's all I needed.

I guess sometimes superior debating doesn't do it 🙂.

Out in the first round, whoo didn't see that one coming.

Ok thanks again to

Whirly
Dizzle
Maestro
Nataku
JP
House
Sentry
K Von Doom
Zachrivard
DarkCrawler
Solidus Snake
Wolverine1888
Laminator X
and Jinzin (Congratulations man).

You guys rock. *waves his fingers at all those other people who didn't vote in his favor!* I don't know who half of them are though. *bitter*

No discussion for a while, figured I'd try to get the ball rolling again...

JP, Dizzle, Laminator, and 8BitChris are the entrants so far in the first round loser's match. I think I'll make it so I can vote in that one, since it won't directly affect the outcome of the tourney (the winner will fight the loser's from the semi's in a 3-way match for places 3-5). I thought about pulling out the amalgam I had planned on creating (Megaballz...I posted a pic earlier on this thread), and throwing myself in the match just for the hell of it. But A. Drizzt was in my amalgam, and he's taken. B. My third pick (8-Ball) most likely would have been banned, so the amalgam might be a bit unfair....and I honestly don't know who I'd replace him with. And C. Don't want to step on any toes by entering a tourney that I'm overseeing.

I'm having a blast running this, and I hope everyone (even those who've lost) are enjoying it too.

Keep yer filthy paws off my amalgam Digi... Though Megaballz sounds pretty sweet. Anyone else have different combinations? I was thinking about taking Master Chief instead of Leto. Or possibly even Vash the Stampede, though he probably breaks the speed limitation.

The other combo I thought of taking (though I'm pretty sure it was gonna get banned. It still kicks some major ass though) was Jubilee, Dan Hibiki, and this guy named Mask from the Cleric Quintet... Who basically switches bodies with you. I'd be invincible, by sucking really badly.

I was gonna take Spaceman Spiff as a joke too... Hehe, Spaceman Spiff.

At one point I thought of taking the Dread Pirate Roberts/Whesley. Had I understood the rules better, I might have done something like Golden Boy (from Wildcards, maxing the limits for both strength and durability), Dreadstar, and Triathalon. 450+ tons strength and 150mph+ speed, with Olympic level reflexesX3 anyone?

Thanks. The 3rd in the combo was Megaman. I could find a suitable replacement for 8-Ball, but Drizzt kinda made the whole thing go, so without him I'd be grasping at straws. I should repost that pic of him...an amalgam that sweet (and one of my few successful attempts at making a pic look badass) shouldn't go unnoticed.

A bunch of people thought about Leech (myself included before the tourney). But then barely anyone picked mutants, so he woulda been pretty worthless. I was going to pick him first to detract others from picking mutants, and hopefully mess up a few combos, and then switch at the last second.

A few people always wish they had switched picks, but pretty much everyone has a strong amalgam, so I don't think anyone should feel bad. Dread Pirate Roberts....lol. 😄

Yeah I was going for Deathstroke straight from the begining the guy pretty much is what is making my guy go right now.
Other than that I was looking at a few characters such as Kenshin not for his speed though 🙄
I also looked at possibly taking people such as Dante from the Devil May Cry series. I was also thinking of taking American Eqagle and Blade.
Anyway I like the guy I finished with now I think so far he is the best all around guy in the tourney and brings a few unique challenges to people who fight him.

I was thinkin about Dante too, but pretty much everything he does is magic... You'd have to strip him down to the point where he's useless.

Kenshin is definitely a good pick, but he's got nothing but skill, when compared to the guys here. If yer going with him, you better have 2 more badass picks. (which JP definitely didn't... No significant durability or strength to speak of)

In retrospect, I'd probably prefer to have Master Chief over Leto right now. I think Leto's better by a little bit, but MC is more well known. And he has a LOT more information on him. I'd lose the precog and a good amount of foot speed, but he'd give me better reflexes, GUNS, and a shield. Oh well. Leto's still cooler. Though if I think about it, guns could replace eye beams for range... So I ditch Cyclops, and take Mjolnir armor, a force field, a pretty good arsenal, enhanced reflexes, enhanced physical stats, and keep all of Leto's benefits... God dammit, why didn't I think of this earlier?

Your guy was great, Dizz. What Master Chief would have given you was recognition. Nothing against our opponents or their characters, but we both lost a significant number of votes just to unfamiliarity. It was an uphill battle just to get our characters' abilities acknowledged, let alone argue considered dominant. When some voters tried to weigh out the different arguments, the characters with whom they were more familiar had a certain "gut-level" credability that our guys didn't enjoy.

Young Leto was probably even quicker than Drizzt, given the way that he walked all over Fedaykin. Add Drizzt's skills to that...

Your assets vere seriously undervalued.
