What is bigger...Your mind or the Universe?

Started by piccola_nuvola11 pages

I think both are quite huge. I believe the power of immagination is great, but it has limits, as most of what we know is acquired by the senses, and people cannot think about things they can't perceive...you cannot immagine a colour you've never seen.
As for the universe, it's quite big too...and we still don't know for sure whether it has boundaries, do we?
Anyway, I think the universe is bigger...maybe because the minds are part of it.

First of all: what is the universe?; what is the mind? Is there a distinction between the two? Can we believe the mind when it claims anything? Where does the mind, if at all, begins and where does it ends, if at all?

Throughout the history of philosophy, the above questions have never been settled.

OH....it is all subjective anyway.....how I hate that word.

Yes, how meaningless all such discussions about the great unknown is!

But interesting to fathom...

It may seen like a silly question. But which one do you think is bigger? The power of your mind's imagination or the vastness of the universe? Can you fill in the knowledge of an entire universe inside your head?

I am on my way to making a universe inside my mind, yes my mind is just as powerful as the universe.

My mind is more important than the rest of the universe, so it could be thought of as being bigger.
But how do you define size? Is it the length of something, or it's mass, or it's volume???
You cant measure the mind in terms of distances as a length.

the mind has no limits IMO but so dose the universe so i would say there equal i terms of size the size being infinit i disagre saying that the mindhas limits how can it know one has ever reached it

There are things in the universe that are beyond our imagination.

Depends on your intelligence.

I would expect a commit like that from you. 😛

If you think in the universe like a hologram, then like a hologram is... the mind being a small part of the universe could contain the whole universe in it.

the mind,without a doubt.

Yep.....Smaller parts of the larger and so on and so on....also like one within the other and so on and on......All blended, separated and yet completed in small jumps..... ever developing, expanding....intertwined...probable hard to fathom...

Anyway that universe you talk about in already in your mind when you asked "What is bigger? Your mind or the universe?".

Kind of sounds like creating....ie creators.....Unlimited potential.....Let me explore that reality....Hmmmmmm...yes, I like it....!!!!

And there's the killing blow!
A basic, and always correct, mathematical theorem is that no part can ever be as large as the whole. So since our minds are part of the universe, they cannot contain the knowledge of the universe.

From a more physical perspective, the human mind is capable of storing about 2.2 terrabytes of information. That would be approximately one fifth of the internet, much less everything in the universe.

Who says there is something like 'the whole', 'the universe', 'infinity'? Nobody really comprehend concepts like these!? Who can truly visualize things like these!? Only an arrogant charlattan can wrap his brain around the absolute. We don't know, never knew and will never know...but we can be in a state of wonder...
