Putting others before yourself is why there is so much depression in the world individually, why so many people don't know what they want. Sure, be selfless if you like. But if you can't take care of YOURSELF (because it's you who's living) first and foremost, how can you take care of anyone else? You can't always rely on someone to care for you. well perhaps some end up that way. Others feel good when they put others before themselves. As long as one has their needs for survival and everyday needs, why not put others first? especialy those less fortunet?

Why should I have to squeeze through life as a result of concentrating on everyone else? It's my life, they're living theirs as much as I'm living mine. I help those who immediately impact my life. Friends, family and such. I don't help those who have nothing to do with me, because that's not my responsibility. If you feel some moral obligation to help a stranger at the expense of yourself, fine. That's a choice that you made though. I'm not wrong for not doing the same.

No it's not my opinion. It's me, speaking factually about me. You have no say in my life or what I think about myself. If I say I am not the responsibility of another random human, I am not. End of story.
I wouldn't want some innocent man to come running in and help me. Why? Because it's not his responsibility and second, what if he got stabbed or shot? I don't want that on my conscience. So no, I'm no stranger's responsibility. No stranger has the right to assume they are responsible for my safety.
