What is now current continuity as made so by Xmen forever is the fact that Big G and all the abstracts are merely the evolved humanity of the previous universe. Phoenix sparks off creation and then steers evolution to the point where humanity evolves and then replaces the universe abstracts. At which point Phoenix ends creation and transfers it all to the White Hot room(marvels after life) before starting it again with some of the evolved humanity reborn as the new universes abstracts. Phoenix is the only constant in creation This was all made clear in Xmen Forever and is current continuity. Here is the latest Big G bio which supports this and shows Phoenixes role as his creator.
