Actually, they become scrap. The wings would have folded in on the aircraft upon penetration of the building. The tail section would also have been shredded as the plane continued to penetrate the building.
Alot of sheet metal of the plane would have been torn and twisted in the crash. More would have been crushed by the building that fell on top of it and some would have ben incinerated beyond the recognition of people without a clue.
This is not a plane crash in an ocean, swamp or open field. This is a high impact collision with an extremely solid building. Slow down and think.
