well, technically, he was, British means from Great Britain, which is another name for the UK. Youd be right if you said he wasnt ENGLISH, but the necessity for bond is just that he's british, not english

well, they are Brits... they just happen to be world acclaimed as well...

All my fave Brit actors are either young (Billy Boyd, Ewan, Orli) or OLD (Ian Mckellan, Patrick Stewart) or just wouldn't really fit the Bond role (Alan Cumming, Alan Rickman)

Alan Cumming would be groovy... And it'd be cool for him to be Scottish finally... altho he does a cool english accen too... nah! I prefer scottish!
