Who Should Be the Next Bond?

oh, don't get me wrong EM... it's that from experience here, I get the feeling that Bloom fans are generally that young

well, Colin... dunno, it worked for Denise Richards and Halle Berry... but for a role as Bond, he will be stigmatised as "007" for his entire lifetime... is he up to that?

and since the new bond is rumored to be in 2007 already (that's Bond 22; not 21), I doubt mister Hulkie-boy will make it 😖

I'm from Europe, magical land of beer, chocolate, waffles ... and sprouts

I also doubt that "The Hulk" (was that released in Europe?- it is from an American comic book) would make JB in 2007. I hope that means PB stays on for 2005!

Yerssot, are you in the Germany/Switzerland/Austria part of Europe? I would LOVE to see that part of the world! Have you ever been to any part of Canada (we are actually a larger landmass geographically than the United States). Most Americans still think that most Canadians live in igloos and wear parkas all year round when 90% of Canadians live in a climate just like New York, Chicago, Seattle or warmer. (Most) Americans seem to live in their own "center" of the world. Ha! That is, unless they have travelled any, and have an open mind, and are not arrogant about their homeland.... 😉

So who is left for the new James Bond? Out of that long list I provided earlier - WHO WOULD THE TOP 3 CHOICES BE???

What about the likes of Clive ROBERTSON, Gerard Butler and again, I will bring up - ADRIAN PAUL: for his similarity to the young Sean Connery and his homeland being England??? THEN you could bring Sean Connery in for a cameo as his DAD! 😂 I never watched much of the Highlander series - but there's a Connery connection there too, right?

yeah, I think it did, I know it did in England ...
and normally if nothing drasticly changes, PB WILL do the 2005 one, he's just playing "hyping up the movie"

erm, no none of those three countries 😛
and yes, been to Canada... Montréal and the "surroundings" for two weeks (in '99) and spent 6 weeks in Toronto last summer.
Disliked Blue, but got it for free so didn't bothered drinking another one. Nice people, lovely country, lots of old reruns (helloooooow highlander 😊 ), honestly, been there twice, twas twice one of the top holidays I had
But what is all this questioning aboot 😛

My top 3? Actually, I was hoping Pierce wouldn't age at all anymore 🙁
not counting him, I honestly have no idea since most of the people are not known here... just want a guy end 30s or 40s, black hair, more than 6 feet, english accent (and FFS, NOT from the USA!), not that famous or commercial, charming-looking etc.

oh and btw... no cameo as Bond's dad... his parrents died in a skiing accident when he was ver young, as was said in Goldeneye by Alec.
dunno about the connery connection from highlander 😖

Pierce Brosnan still has a boyish quality about him - it's in how he looks up toward you from the side at just that particular angle of his profile - and then grins that mischievous grin - with the eyebrow slightly raised... Bond needs a bit of that boyish charm to "get away with" much of his antics towards the women - think of the interaction with Moneypenny.

Bloom is not the right choice for now - but he's not a horrible actor either. Brosnan was never considered a "great actor" before Bond. He got Bond because he was the best fit for the role, at the time. Sean Connery was the best in his time. As for O.B. - his roles of Legolas, Will Turner and Prince Paris are different characters and I've heard reviews of Troy already praising his ability to interpret Prince Paris correctly, and well.

So, I think he deserves some credit. Peter Jackson is not a fool. Nor is Wolfgang Petersen. I've not seen the film he did with Heath Ledger, though, and as for the "Calcium Kid" movie - that was done a few years back and only released last year, so he still seems quite young to many movie-goers. According to my daughter, Orlando Bloom is already 27 years old!

Boy do I feel OLD!!! (Over 30 but who's counting?) 🤣

yeah, he does have that boyish charm, still looks great for his age 😄
that charm is really needed, not only for the girls, but to get that contrast as a coldblooded agent...

I don't know about you, EM, but the acting I saw of him (LOTR and POTC) didn't convince me that he's that great, ... from time to time even ...bad 😖

your daughter seems to be on top of Bloom things 😛
we don't count ... Pierce is more than 50 and still is Bond 😉

Oops! Sorry - I forgot about the "no parents". A for the questions about where you're from - I was just curious about how far reaching the "love affair" with James Bond is...

I hope I didn't offend you by guessing the wrong country - I just went by all the things you listed being an old boyfriend's favorite things about being from Switzerland. And if you were American and I guessed Canada - you'd likely be offended). 😉 Netherlands perhaps? Okay, I'll stop guessing! 😄

We dislike Blue here too (hubby and me)- in Western Canada... We actually prefer Beck's and Guinness and most other darker ales. Next time you come to Canada - go WEST to the Rocky Mountains and continue over them to the West Coast of Vancouver and Vancouver Island (not where I'm from, btw). Worth the trip. Toronto as a City is dirty compared to most other Canadian cities.

I think the Connery - Highlander connection is from the movies...?? Can does anyone else know?

yerssot - Adrian Paul fits your description - yet you haven't commented on him... ?? His fame is limited to fanatics of Highlander series - which has done better in reruns on our sci-fi tv networks than it did in original running. Over here - Highlander has more of a cult-following than a broad based commercialized following. So what about A.P.?

And Sean Connery is how old now? I think he's very handsome too! I did see PB one time at a promo event - he looks closer to age 40 - but maybe physically he doesn't want to do it - I think he said he didn't want to go out the way Moore did - but how can you compare Moore to the gorgeous, debonair, classy Brosnan?

Yerssot, as for Bloom in POTC - I've seen it (er - shall I say observed it while my daughter watched it) about 6 times now! At first I didn't really take notice of OB - then I took notice when my daughter expressed her thoughts about him. He's not so bad. Could be worse - she could have a crush on Ashton Kutcher (b-movies and stupid teen movies) - or worse yet - Ben Affleck! (I can't stand him!)

Have a good day - got to get some work done. 🙂

don't worry, I just wrote that to try and get you on a horse by saying "aboot" 😛

Netherlands is getting quite close, but no win 😉 It's not a country you normally would guess that easily, that's the fun part ... and people do think I'm german actually 😖

That's a real shame, plan was to go to the Rockies last time, but we deceided in the end to go to Tennessee cause it was x years ago Elvis died... Perhaps next time 😉, and have to agree, Toronto is huge and dirrrrrty... not as naturelike as Montréal, but fun nonetheless

gonna give the movies a quick look but I doubt I'll find something 😖

Adrian Paul ... that's Duncan MacLeod of the clan MacLeod? ... well; come to think of it, if he cuts the tail he had, he would have the looks... but less accent needed I guess 😖 (or I remembered it wrong)
actually, I'll root for him from now on 😄

Connery is now 74, born 25 August 1930.

Well, a pic I saw got Pierce with grey hair, and he sure did look old there ... but still looks good, doesn't mean that he has to push it 😖

of course Blooms acting could be worse, it can always get worse, but still, the guy hasn't done anything to impress me or let me believe he's any good
(good that you didn't mention Kutcher or Affleck... up to now)

looked it up, Sean played Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez in Highlander (1986)

PB has grey hair in Law of Attraction, FYI.

and as always ... I didn't caught that movie 😖

(I apperently don't see many movies)

He's seen with grey hair in the trailers. www.imdb.com has it.

thx! 🙂

Yerssot.... Luxembourg or Belgium (or should I be thinking Scandinavian? 😄 You see, I don't equate Scandinavian with "European" - so if that's where you are.... that threw me off for sure!) 😉

Yes - Adrian Paul was Duncan MacLeod - and he's an Englishman taking on the thick Scottish accent because of who he was playing. (Brosnan has played a Brit or a Scot at times) Adrian Paul is also 6' tall - beautifully built and yes - pleeeeeze get rid of that stupid tail/ponytail! I agree!

Shall we start another thread for Adrian Paul??? 😱

Let's see if I can get a picture of him here.....

Definitely more the Sean Connery type than the Roger Moore type... (yes, yes yes!!!). 😮‍💨 😱

Okay - here's another pic I found... of Adrian Paul 😄

good guess, it's belgium 😛

he wouldn't do bad I think 🙂
but has he been "officially" taken into consideration already or... ?

Yerssot, I don't like Kutcher or Affleck - for any reason - I avoid movies with them in it. I gather you don't like them either. Seems like there's slim-pickings coming up in the acting field!

As for PB and the grey hair - I guess I overlooked that because I meant his facial features mostly - that they DON'T look like he's "OLD". He still looks great with the grey hair, though. Besides - there's makeup people, and lighting tricks,.... oh, please keep Pierce Brosnan longer! Maybe some complete unknown will appear at just the right time and none of this so-so candidates will matter anyway...... 🙁

well, don't AVOID movies with them in it, just that they have faces that are just screaming to get hit 😂

don't worry, his face is great, and they can always paint his hair ... he won't give up that easily

I don't know if he's been "officially" in the running - there are James Bond websites that list the contenders and apparently some have been flooded with votes from obsessed Adrian Paul fanatics and so they've removed AP's listing as a contender in their voting because of the abuse from these (stupid) people. They just achieved the opposite of what they wanted.

As for Belgium... I thought it would have been a bit "cliche" to guess about "Belgian waffles" that way... Anyway - I've seen pictures from family friends who come from there - very beautiful! Your comment about people thinking you're German... well - all 4 men I know who were born in Belgium have German wives!

Jean Claude Van Damme - Belgian?

As for Adrian Paul - I'm thinking more and more he's the best choice - but he may not be the "popular" choice unless people are aware of him again. What do you think?
