So - have we've narrowed it down then? Orlando Bloom is a long shot (but still good looking, IMO - although a rookie in the acting department) and Adrian Paul is the better choice (he's got more FIRE within, sex appeal, smouldering good looks, somewhat boyish charm, is English, can be perceived as cavalier, 6' tall, great bod, and all that) - reminiscent of Sean Connery. Yes? 💃
hmmm, well, I think that some sites just add a few cause they like them, not cause "rumor has it" ... like ... I would make a thread saying some unknown San Marino actor will be the new Bond

Why would that be? A shortage of Belgian women 40-45 years ago? (These folks are in their 60's) Seems like a strange time in history for that combination - although one (German) woman's family was taken in by her future husband's family when they left Germany - not sure of the time frame exactly....

I don't think Adrian Paul "looks like" Sean Connery - rather, he has a similar "type of look" as Sean Connery, that is very attractive and well suited to Bond - like Connery was.
As for the Bloom as Bond posting - maybe the posting here was started by a 13-year old - who knows - but there was actually a magazine or entertainment paper article that my daughter showed me claiming this - she showed it to me because she new I loved JB - and she loves OB - she figured it was a "bonding" thing for us (ha - pun was not intended there).
BTW - my daughter is NOT a pre-teen - and many of her friends think Bloom is the best thing since.... well, Pierce Brosnan for us I guess. She is 17 yrs. old. Our neighbour's girls are in their early 20's and like OB too. They thought it would be "cool" to not have a James Bond that could be their Dad.

but yeah, it was started off and it got picked up by a lot of magazines and such, though over here they have played it rather cool and just said: "this is the list of possible candidates, note that Bloom is just the wet dream of fangirls", I won't believe it if he will be the next one, MGM would be crazy to do that 😖

No Belgian I know here sounds much like JCVD. The "accent" is very lovely in my opinion - but if you don't have an ear for it - people will assume German or Austrian or Swiss... you've gotten that I'm sure.
I was told they spoke Flemish. And, French - and some German because of their wives.

to be really short about it (cause belgian politics is very difficult, we got ie 6 governments): the north part is Flanders with Flemish who speak dutch, the east is Kantons, with german-speaking people and the south is Walloon, with walloon who speak french. So, he speaks originally French therefor almost per definition does he have an accent
(and a long mistaken thing is that we speak Flemish, we don't, we speak Dutch. Flemish is the general name of the biggest dialect here)

Okay - that's strange - because the fellow who told me this explained it to me (20 years ago) that the "Flemish" he spoke was like a mixture of Dutch and French that made North Americans think he was Austrian or German - sometimes they thought Norwegian if you can imagine that!
I haven't spoken to him and his wife for about 6 months - perhaps an invitation to dinner will provide a better and proper discussion and understanding of this!? I heard him speak French (my family heritage) - and it was different to what he spoke with his visiting 83 year old mother - and different than what I heard my friend speak with her family - and they are Dutch - my friend is 1sst generation Canadian(surname: Bosscha - and "no" that's not giving away too much information). It's a big country here.

My daughter liked pics of PB when he was younger - just disliked his wardrobe from that era. My daughter thinks Adrian Paul is also handsome but thinks he's too old for her (as if Bloom being 27 wasn't too old for her already!)

Actually, what he spoke to his mother sounded like a mix because I could understand part of it, but not all of it. My French heritage originates in France - not Quebec. Verrrrrry different and I don't wish to be associated with the bastardized Quebecois French (beautiful province, though).

I actually have a great hubby who looks a lot like the LOTR character Aragorn played by Viggo Mortensen but with much shorter hair - same nose, same facial structure. (It's annoying when people stop him to tell him that though) He does not, however, look like the blonde Viggo Mortensen with the hardly noticeable eyebrows, and barely noticeable eyelashes. Hair color and being able to see eyebrows does make a difference! 😉

What About Adrian Paul - the ENGLISHMAN, as James Bond?
What about Adrian Paul as a Contender for the role of James Bond AFTER Pierce Brosnan retires? 😄 (Let me say here that Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan have been the best Bonds so far, IMHO and I don't want PB to retire just yet. However, the search is real...)
Here's why I think he should be reconsidered.
1) He has been low profile - almost forgotten but this would work to his advantage because Highlander has mostly a cult following these days so he'd be a "new but somewhat familiar face"
2) He has a similar "TYPE OF LOOK" to Sean Connery, that Connery carried off so well
3) Adrian Paul is of ENGLISH heritage - NOT Scottish (check out his online biographies). He only used the Scottish accent to play Duncan MacLeod from the The Highlander Series of about 7-10 years ago)
4) He fits the physical requirements: Adrain is about 6' tall, well built and very agile; knows the martial arts; fits the "tall, dark, handsome and mysterious" qualities of James Bond 😮💨
5) He could easily be perceived as the "Stiff-assed or Cool Brit" mentioned in another thread (IMO)
6) He has that bit of Boyish/Devilish Charm needed for the "Bond" persona
