😆 And we snap back to the KMC reality and Cyke blasts Storm at the buzzer from 90 feet away. ✅
How about we give her the credit she has in canon. The lady can counter his optic blasts with her lightning. We saw in X-Men: Worlds Apart issue 4 where she pretty much laughed his attack off by blocking his blast with a wall of lightning. In the battle with the External, Candra, Storm surrounded herself with a protective elemental barrier that deflected Candra's TK assaults. So Storm can protect herself from Scott. That is established. How is Scott going to protect himself from Storm if she zaps him with lightning or snatches the air out of his lungs (which she did in World's Apart issue 2 to some guys), manipulate the pressure inside of his body which she has done in canon as well or simply drop his internal temperature 200 degrees in an instant? All of this is canon for Storm.

I was just thinking, isn't there something with Scotts durability that allows him to take energy damage to an extent? Doesn't he metabolize energy or something like that...?
Uh-huh. To begin with, there was no solar energy in that dimension. There is no proof that Scott's system can handle both the solar energy and lightning at the same time. He cannot until an issue shows that his body can metabolize both energies at once. Also, this was a very, very painful experience for him and Storm was not going for a kill or knockout. Storm took the power in her body first. She did not send it to Scott directly. Her body can filter lightning.
Storm can instantly flash freeze entire areas, create tornadoes in the literal blink of an eye, she has faster reaction speed that Scott, etc. He's not going to win this fight.

You already know my stance on this. I agree with some of it, the stuff I don't agree on is:
*You say she deflected TK with an elemental shield which was not mentioned or referenced in the story. I'd say she created a sandstorm and Candra's TK attacks missed because she was blinded.
*As for the lung thing she didn't just snatch air out of their lungs. She created a vortex over them which in turn snatched the air out of the lungs IRRC. There's a difference.

Actually the ring around the planet acted like their Sun so yeah there was solar energy in that place and the ring didn't die out yet it just weakened.
Not saying it wasn't but she bombarded him with lightning and he was still standing and Scott told her to call down as much power as she can stand.
And if you take a look at the art Scott is being bombarded from many sides with lightning not just from Storm. From the writing it would seem the only reason she channeled some of it towards herself was to make sure none of the power was wasted by using Colossus as a ground.
And to be honest I'm not choosing a side here, was just curious about the metabolism thing. I mean when you think about all the retcons that went into this to save face for both characters over the years it's no wonder why this topic is quite controversial amongst the writers.

Unless I missed something...the story doesn't says anything about a vortex. Why would you think she create a vortex?
Hell, given all the shit she done over the years, removing the air from a person's lungs doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me.

I don't have access to my scans at the moment but I'm pretty sure she creates a vortex around herself and those soldiers which in turn snatches the air out of their lungs. That's how it is portrayed artistically. I'm not debating whether she can or can't do that, what I am contesting is the description of that particular feat consider it some sort of OCD 😛.
