Overlord,
I was hoping for a longer flame also, but it gets longer, depending on how much it is juiced up.
I checked out some of these hand held lasers, they are a possible way of making a real laser one, with reflecting concave mirrors on an extendable rod. But the problem is that when a laser with the green beam is used it can cut through things but if the colour is lighter it will reflect , infa red lasers at 500 mW are more powerfu and can cut, but they use an invisible beam. Unless the two can be merged together.
To all,
Do you see that Ad just above here for Handheld lasers. i checked it out and called them. the green beam cactually cuts through some darker material. If they were to also incorparate infa red beams, ( which are invisible) and build the green beam with the infared beam into a light saber and have an extending rod that has a series of concave mirrors on the end of it that bounce the beam back to the base in another series of concave mirrors, then a real lightsaber with lasers could be made. The man who seels them told me that the beam could be expanded using expanding optics, to make the beam 10 times more thick. Interesting idea, if anyone wants to speand the money and try to make one.

I have already tried the idea that you have for useing a retracable staff with concave magnifying mirrors up and down the shaft, I used 6 super powerful green laser lights built into the handle of a butchered Force FX saber hilt ( like you have) but at the end of the day ( even with a mirrored endcap to bounce the light back) the Laser lights are just not powerful enough, well, not yet anyway,. But the bonus was that the retractable shaft worked very well.
The only other idea I can think of to see the lights up the blade is to somehow drill super small holes randomly up the shaft and inject some sort of agent the " mists" up through the centre of the shaft and out the holes where the laser lights can pas through and be seen , but thats a long shot.
There is also another idea that I've thought of where maybe you could use an inflatable blade that is stored in the hilt and use compressed air to inflate it and fire it out and then somehow deflate it and suck it back into the hilt, you would have to work out some sort of compressor mechanism , the good thing about this idea is that you could also saber fight as hard as you wanted without damagimg the blades or each other, sensors for sound effects could be built in with ease ( just use a Force FX hilt).

Interesting. But did you use the Green lasers from handeld laser sights above. They cost from 400 dollars or so to 1,000 dollarts, the light apparently can be seen in dim lighting. You can even affect the beam to make it thicker. I was thinking of using a infa red light and a green beam laser, then it would have the effect and the power. The only problem is the power. legaly we can only use so much power for lasers.
tell me of any more ideas you have ,and check out the handheld laser sight above
So many things can be faked.....
That other pic with the 5 lasers.....I wouldnt even want one of those if they were real. Look at them, they are shit. I have a laser pointer that is more interesting and fun to play with.
Whats the point of doing all this, dude? The one you've made is a flame you cant do anything with except maybe light a cigarette with, and the other ones are crappy. Even if you did make a fully working lightsaber, it would have no functionality except for burning your eyes out or dismembering yourself. I dont get your fascination with this.

He's freakn' Canadian! He's got nothing to do but eat beefcake and talk about "real" lightsabers.
Someone like him would actually be bored enough to make one.

You said,
" I dont get your fascination with this."
My response,
I am facinated with the technology, and the attempt to make a real lightsaber. i think they are fantastic things. Anyway iI am sort of an inventor myself, somehwat.
What is your facination with the devil and evil things? or why do you even like Star Wars at all, why are you in this forum?

hello, you said,
" But the bonus was that the retractable shaft worked very well.'
How did you make this retractible shaft, and did what was the power of the lasers, 150mW or 350mW / Can you send me a diagram of how you made the retractible shaft?
thanks
