Why do people think Superman is just a flying strongman?
I mean, he's pretty much the strongest of the strong, sure.
Among the fastest, and easily top tier durability.. but..
He has energy attacks too. His heat vision can be used and concussive force, or as heat, or as both, and apperently has the ability to block most any energy attack. He stopped Blackrocks attacks with it, which even seem magical in nature, and even deflected the Omega Beams with it. Not to mention countless others times. But, noone ever mentions this ability.

He has been beaten and hurt with blackrock's powers repeatedly..
And people do no think superman is just a flying strongman. They just know that most of his powerset is irrelevant against surfer. The only thing he has on surfer (arguably) is strength.
The fact of the matter is that superman has trouble fighting planetary threats all the time. Surfer, on the other hand, can destroy the planet with a cosmic energy blast...

even if supes does that it won't effect Silver surfer he'll just phase out and beat him or just teleport on side of Superman to another part of the universe. ANYWAY LIKE I SAID silver surfer takes this 8.........9 at best out of 10
I'd go as far as 10/10, personally. It's not about Supes being weak as much as it is about the manner in which his powers are fueled and function. Surfer could shut Supes powers off by altering his physiology. He's effected beings on a molecular level before. All he'd have to do is stop Supes body from metabolizing solar radiation and make it toxic to him and Kal El dies powerless and of radiation poisoning. No Kryptonite or Red Sunlight necessary.
Surfer's just got Supes's card.
If Supes had an independent power source and his powers were wholey genetic and didn't need external power to fuel them (Like Manhunter), he'd have a better chance (and would probably still lose).
