How would beating up Zeus give him what he wanted? He was pleading with Zeus throughout that entire scuffle. I already posted the scans of this.
First of all what I got from Pak in that comic was he was trying to portray arrogance and pride in regards to Hulk and mortals in general that's why when Hercules warned him about Zeus he basically didn't pay it any attention he only wanted to know who he had to deal with.It didn't matter it was Zeus and why should it Hulk up to this point had beaten everyone from Mutant, Robot, God, Monster , hell he beat Sentry and we don't even know what he is.
You can see this theme all through the comic "Another foolish hero rises to challenge the gods" and they compare him to arrogant Perseus and Adonis.
Again this time by Zeus
I saw a Hulk go to Olympus to get Zeus to help his family by any means necessary.Now considering that Zeus came out saw him beating up his subjects choose not to use force but started a conversation with him which he responded by an attack tells me that talking was not the first option on his list.lots of talk about Hulk not being angry in this fight which he was but more importantly Pak was trying to again show case arrogance which you can see in how smug Hulk was and how he continuously insulted Zeus showing him no respect.
Lets continue Hulk then recovered from the lightning bolt he calls Zeus a coward in response to Hera's taunts and even goes on to say he is not scared of him which enrages the sky-father who is gonna vaporize him.At this point Hulk brings up what he did for Zeus and that he owes him but only because Zeus is gonna off him this is the guy who you claim came to talk and only resorted to dialogue when he had no choice.
Zeus apparently agrees he owes Hulk a debt but also remembers what happened in "Hulk vs Hercules clash of the titans" He decides to reward Hulk but now in the way Hulk expected he decides to fight him on his own level and beat him to death by Hand at this point with Zeus restraining himself Hulk then proceeds to sucker punch him.
Now this is the guy that Herc warned not to irk Zeus or he would be killed up to this point he has attacked insulted and now sucker punched him again the all father restrains himself with a bit of manipulation from Hera.Hulk is still his arrogant smug self even telling him stop talking and start fighting.which Zeus does and destroys him.
Now at this point Hera enters the fry and tells Hulk he is basically done.Hulk at this point realizes it as well and tells her whatever just save them Hera gets curious and reads his mind.She then realizes what he came for.
now at this point Zeus has not idea what he wanted from him and it is only because of Hera's curiosity that he even found out because of his action up to this point Zeus had not interest and is so pissed off at this point he would not piss on him if he was on fire much less help his family.I mean he pissed this guy off so much that after nearly beating him to death he tied him to a mountain and tortured him for days.
At this point Zeus finally finds out what he wants now when Zeus comments on him sacrificing himself for others it is a reference to Jesus but he does not mean that entire fight was him sacrificing himself for his family the entire comic and his actions contradicts that he thought he could take Zeus and make him do what he wanted it is only at the end when his saw he could not and was gonna die he decided it did not matter as long his family was saved.
