Superman vs. Hulk

if superman wants to go punch for punch

then hulk will win

wait superman out fought thor skill wise? if thats true the the biggest loud of shit ever

The first time they rumbled in JLA/Avengers Thor actually downed Superman for a moment with his big-energy-wind-up hammer throw. He didn't follow through though, instead engaging anothe Leaguer and giving Supes time to recover. Scarlet Witch ends the fight before anything conclusive happens.

Their second rumble Thor gets in one of his moods and basically rushes Superman head-on, blasts of heat vision be damned, and starts swinging. Not the best tactic against Superman. Thor gets KO'd.

Thor later comments to Aquaman that he's taken Supes's measure now, and another bout would go quite differently...

What about Hulk fighting a being made of energy of him fighting those things in that Marvel Book about Thanos and the heart of the Universe. Hulk between 50% and 100% angry is nothing less then a wrecking machine he fought Stranger Galaxy Master ZZZax these Beings would smoke Superman read Respect Hulk thread and come back and say Hulk does not have a good chance.

It should have killed him since Thor's Hammers is Magical.

I rather agree, as we've seen both Current Superman and Kingdom Come Superman slice their hands open just by sliding them against the edge of Wonder Woman's sword. Mjolnir is a far more powerful artifact than the sword Hephaestus gave to the Amazons. Personally, I don't think he should've gotten back up after that first blow, based on the above. Inconsistant character portrayals make me itch.

Superman's victory was as much a question of politics as power. It was a precondition of DC's participation in the project.

Back on topic, there're any number of ways that Superman could defeat the Hulk. Brute force simply isn't one of them. The possably exception to that would be the way Iron-Man did it. He put everything he had into one mega-blow and sucker-punched the Hulk before Hulk had a chance to get really worked up. That would probably work for Supes too, should circumstances permit.

(Come to think of it, I don't recall as we've ever seen Thor give the big Unfettered Might attack to the Hulk. Hmmm...)

A cool pic

and

I like the second one especially. It gives you a sort of totally-screwed-man-on-the-street perspective.

can he beat supes? yes. all depends on how the battle is depicted. supes fights strictly h2h and uses no other powers (ie CIS) than sure it's possible hulk could ko him in time. i do think it WOULD be CIS though.

Funny how the best even the most staunch anti-Supes people can do is, "If Superman just fights H2H and Hulk gets mad enough....". (edit: not directed at Leonidas, just seems that way)

Why are we handicapping Superman so much? Why can't it just be, "Superman fighting to his fullest vs. Hulk fighting to his fullest"? Is it because Superman fighting to his fullest would have a pretty easy time against Hulk fighting to his fullest and even the biggest Hulk supporters know this?

Yes.

I think Superman is one of the few who can come out on top against the Hulk, in just pure h2h. Thor, it's been shown to be a stalemate like that. DC/Marvel Access wasn't that far off the mark with their bout, with Supes eventually K.Oing Hulk. But I know people contend Hulk is the strongest in h2h, can't be beaten that way etc.

He was a force to be reconed with, but now a days he is getting beat alot in head to head battles and it makes me sick...

Yes.>>

of course. but the thread asks CAN hulk beat him . . . and again, the answer is yes. but it would require some crappy writing.

<<He was a force to be reconed with, but now a days he is getting beat alot in head to head battles and it makes me sick...>>

i also agree with this WHOLEHEARTEDLY!

I mean hulk cant win, i mean superman has every possible advantage cept stregth maybe if the hulk is able to get pissed enough.

And now that Superman had dynamic strength too, I can't see the logic that Hulk is stronger hold water, either. There's no limit to EITHER of their strengths. In Hulk's case, as he gets angrier, he gets stronger. In Superman's case, as he gets more stressed, he gets stronger. In fact, I'd say the latter is more potent. You can get more stressed for a longer period of time over more things than you can get angry. I get stressed when I'm angry, when I'm sad, when I'm frustrated, when I'm worried, hell, when I'm happy sometimes because I'm in denial that I deserve happiness and wondering when it's going to be taken from me. Superman has the weight of the world on his shoulders...tell me that's not more potent than Hulk getting peeved because people won't leave him alone.

Supes has him beat six ways to Sunday. 9/10.

It certainly would. However, CIS happens all the time. I turn up my nose at PIS, but CIS should be given some weight. How often do characters, heck people for that matter, behave sub-optimally. Sadly quite often.

If not for CIS, guys like Flash and Superman would hardly ever have a fight go on for more than two panels.

'zactly . . .

Superman wins but I don't think it would be easy for him.

I remember the Cadmus guards saying that Doomsday is moving too fast to use their weapons on them.

DD wasn't moving fast all the time but only in spurts. He would stop occasionally to access the situation. But while in linear motion no Cadmus guard could follow him.
