What about 'Rat Park'?
As I mentioned I didn't mean all and I do have to say that people have more complex brain circuitry that would allow for this behavior than lab animals....There is also the the genetics and family history along with social upbringing and environment that could influence as well....
Still from what I've read...I stand by what I've said above in many cases

That would negate a massive amount of scientific knowledge. That's a whole other debate I suppose.
However, this experiment (Rat Park) is well worth checking out.
Lana may know of it.

So can you explain then what the HELL is wrong with AC?
Run along, the adults are having a serious conversation here.
Anyway, I wouldn't say that people who are addicts are necessarily weak. For one, everyone has weaknesses, be they mentally or physically. Some people are more susceptible to fall into addiction, due to the chemical makeup of the brain, but I wouldn't say they're weak.

From what I have read/studied....drug addicts along with alcoholics are not weaker people, but only people who feel more deeply than others (though not all of them)...and have a harder time coping with what the world holds in truths around them...Can't understand it as well,,,more sensitive to it, and not sure how to make a difference in it......Thus the numbing themselves.
😱 That is so true.......
The genius classical pianist Glen Gould, who was obviously a super intelligent and talented individual was addicted to many prescription drugs - obviously someone of that callibur cqannot be considered a weak person, as he is an all-time icon and master of classical music. Myself on the other hand are addicted to sigarettes and prescription drugs(Alprazolam for anxiety disorder) and I am a very strong willed person who have accomplished many good things such as being an internationally published poet, violinist and accomplished computer programmer. Many great historical figures were addicted to all sorts of things, for example, Shakespear(cocaine), Sartre (emphatimines), Gould(psycological drugs), etc.

Hmm.I don't think people with addictive personalities toward drugs are inherently weak, just more susceptible to being physically weakened by an addiction that becomes a severe dependancy. Even then I wouldn't call them weak in terms of pathetic. The strongest willed people sometimes can't break addictions.
I think it's more a view of people who just don't understand an addict's mind. More or less perfectly depicted in the lyrics to Junkhead by Alice in Chains.

From my experience and others, I'd say this was spot on....
In regards to the will power thing, It helps to be able to see the damage and what it has cost you and finding the anger at it for what it has cost you helps drive you to a determined headspace for sticking it out in quitting it... and treating yourself to the things you enjoyed before the habit.... Of course, you have to be careful not to immediately replace your habit with another....Therein is the danger for addictive personalities...
Especially as people are very good at justifying things to themselves..
"Well Ive had a bad day...." "Oooooohhhh waht a result...I think Ill celebrate..." etc
from personal experiences i say, it's not weak to get addicted to a drug. somtimes things in your life make you to. it's just taking the wrong solution for whatever problems you have. but personally i think it's weak to not get out if it again. to not go and help yourself or get yourself help. If you realized you are addicted or close to be addicted, it is weak to not do something about it. they tell themselves they can't but if they really want, they can. it's all in your head.
Yup... (Except sometimes its your body too with real physical withdrawel to alchohol and drugs...) But you can fight through that with said anger at it too... Just gotta build to some critical mass first... often through frustration at the things it has lost you over the years..... All addicts at sometime of course are dissatisfied with the situ, but it sadly takes some people years of loss and regret before they feel emotionally fuelled enough to do the neccessary.
And equally sadly some people are just happy to carry on self destructively, or lack the confidence and anger at their situation and continue spiralling... 🙁
The darkside is weakness. And when you do drugs you give into the darkside.
Selfishness.
Desire.
These are the two prime ingradiants in drug abuse and of the darkness. Most drugatics try to "escape" reality, how can you not say these people aren't weak when they can't even tolerate real life and are so stupid they won't just kill themselves? SpellJammer would rather just drink a suicide pill then pop painkillers. Becoming an addict is a fate worse then death. SpellJammer serves no man, and drugs open the door to you serving many.
When you hear stories about men giving blowjobs on the street for cocaine money. Weak is an understatement. And SpellJammer doesn't really hate these individuals, but feels something more like pity. But he DOES hate liberals for trying to make it out like this is okay. It's not okay. And it's because of your lies these poor people aren't getting any better. Being human isn't just a state of being, it's a responsibility. If you're not able to handle that responsibility, you become more or less an animal. And you should be treated as such..
