There is a difference between being a hardcore fan and a fanboys/girls.

The hardcore fans are those that really like a character, but can admit that their favorite doesn't always win. These are also sometimes refered to as the good fanboy/girls, and the context of the word when refering to them is a positive one.

And the fanboy/girl who have been covered at length.
