In if you'll let me
Hello everyone!
I just signed up here and have NO idea what i'm doing.
I read as much as I could manage in one day so here is my attempt at a character...
Name: Marlookooneeweestee (Marlu for short)
Age: 24
Homeworld: Skor II
Species: Squib
Life Goals: Trade lots of things for lots of other things. Especially unusual things, rare things or complex things.
General details:
The first thing any Squib is interested in is trade. Thats a given just as the most important things humans need to live is food, water and air!
After that point however, things become more vauge. Humans WANT companionship, excitement, adventure, challenges, love, and riches.
The importants each individual human gives to these things differs. The same is true of Squibs.
While Marlookooneeweestee is natrually drawn to trade, he also has other interests. He loves flying for one. and it was for this reason that the first action he took upon completion of his Barter 3rd grade course was get a placement on board a Mothership (he traded his room in his parents home for it).
There he was in his element, and quickly rose up through the internal structure by making many shrewed arrangements. However, while wanting to be able to command his own vessal he had no interest in commanding a crew. Trading some of his prestige and aquired items he manage to acquire parts he needed for an ugly (a craft made up of several other ships, for those who didn't know) small shuttle that he named the Loo-Tugger(see below). Leaving behind his moderatly impressive reputation he headed out into the galaxy at large.
That was his mistake.
The empire found him, and due to a minor misunderstanding involveing:
A shipment of blaster rifles, the Hutts, muttering to oneself, forgetting to disconnect from a communication channel and a Victory class stardestroyer.
He ended up being sent to a slave camp. That was his nightmare but thankfully much of the experiance has been forgotten, leaveing only the occational re-occuring nightmare but keeping his wakeing time relatively normal, and more importantly keeping him sane.
He actually did quite well out of the experiance, having made good firends with a Bothen who escaped with him and who managed to do quite well for himself. and another (an ithorian) who put him in-contact with a fairly substancial galactic tradeing company.
So it is that he currently spends his time acquireing goods for the rebels, the only group in the galaxy who seems to give the slightest concideration for the morallity of enslaving non-humans. Anything they need that cannot be procured from standard shipping companies Marlookooneeweestee can usually find some how. They also frequently give away unusual but useless items to him for trade to others.

Enmity: Slavers of the "insert name here" system. Who want desperatly to get him back, to lower their percentage of successful escapee statistics and improve themselves in the emporer's eyes.
Starship [Loo-Tugger]
This shuttle is an awful mishmash of different components come together in an uniquely interesting useful and unstable way. When everything is working at full ability it has the following features.
Crew: One to three, One pilot, One Secondary station operator, One Beam control station.
Passengers: One, though it is possible for more (up to five others) to fit in the cargo-bay and there is life support in there.
Cargo bay: Extreme range of environment controls, extra thick hull, several removeable compartments, Limited space.
Hull strength: weak
System reliability: Poor
Shields: Random (depending on which generators fire up and which ones... do something similar to stalling, reason is fairly unknown, but Marlu does not consider this a very important problem
Weapons:
One Turbo Laser (It came with one of the bolted on ship parts, shame to not connect it and let it go to waste)
Two Fore Tractorbeam emiters (Extra strong)
One Aft Tractorbeam emiter (standard strength, extreme range)
One Turret mounted Tractorbeam emmiter on the belly of the ship (Just standard but with auto control option, can be activated from outside the ship)
Speed: Fairly slow (but on rare occations extremely fast, Some pumped up engines are attatched but poorly wired)
Manouvering: Poor
Hyperspeed: Best of civilian standard.
I'm not sure how I pick starting equipment, but I obviously will need a light blaster pistol of some kind. Also one of my goals is to build something like this...
Beam Blaster: This weapon/tool was his own creation. Typical for a Squib and even more for Marlookooneeweestee to create something like this when he set out to build a blaster pistol. It appears to be a hand held blaster pistol however when fired it does not fire off shots of energy. It produces a beam (similar to that of a lightsabre) that extends until it comes into contact with an object. This beam functions similarly to a tractorbeam, being a stable force that at the movement of the gun causes the object to move. The length of the beam can be adjusted by a thumb dial. The beam does not produce heat it causes no harm to the object it collides with. Any physical objects moving into the beam either bounce off it as they would any other physical object or become attached (toggle switch on the top of the device). Any energy collisions (eg. blaster bolts, lightsabres, forcelightning etc. are sent to the end of the beam. This means it can be used to channel blaster fire in a specific direction and cause the energy to affect a distant object.
Theres a problem with my merits ?
I'm thinking of flying in with some sort of really useful but not particularly impressive piece of equipment. That possible.
I'm thinking something more along the lines of tactical battle field projection equipment, rather than mine, explosives and the like.
If not then to be honest im not quite sure why they would request me be drafted in on this mission. Unless theres something on the planet the rebels want taken away. maybe after the battle is concluded?
BTW, I still havn't seen you on ICQ. Do you use it or perhaps there is another IM program that I can contact you with. It would be very useful to deal with lots of minor issues.
1 line post sort of things.
Well, I'm still dragging my feet on the Starship rules I am afraid, so watch this space.
I really wouldn't know what trading organisation to pick.
And they want you because they are pulling tohethjer as many talented people as they can find for this mission- and it might involve blockade running.
I use MSN, but I am often busy.
