I don' t think you can love someone as a person while also hating everything that makes that person who he or she is.
You can love a person and hate their lifestyle. For example, I can love a drunkard, prostitute, drug addict, domestic abuser, or rank sinner but hate their lifestyle. A person's lifestyle is not who they are.
It' s a common assertion from conservatives that homosexuality is a lifestyle. It is consistent with the evangelical view that homosexuality isn' t so much a sexual orientation but, rather, sexual acts. Being gay is not like being addicted to alcohol or cocaine. You don' t treat homosexuality as an orientation, but as a behavior, which it is not.

Homosexuality is still a choice. A person can decide to practice that lifestyle or to forsake that lifestyle. People do it all the time.

sexuality is very nearly, at the core of the human conciounce. one of the very basic things, YOU can define yourself as is 1. existing 2 fealing/aware 3. male/female. you certainly cant say for most practical purposes that you can seperate sexuality from the INNER PERSON. furthermore, actions define your social self{or the self that other people see u as} and we can only see BEHAVIOUR. or do u then claim to know the INNER TRUE SELF of people around you and seperate that form their behaviour JIA??????? thas nonesense, if you hate homosexuality, you hate homosexuals{specially since sexuality is almost one of the fundamental parts of the social self}. also you never said, "DONT PREFER HOMOSEXUALITY FOR MYSELF BUT HAVE NOTHING AGAINST OTHERS DOING IT" the way a non prejudiced straight man would. you said, I HATE THE HOMOSEXUALITY PHENOMENON, which means you most definately hate gays in practical reality. its the same as saying, i hate women's sexual orientation{i.e, women sexually liking men, and biologically having cleavage, different genitals} but since all that is a LIFESTYLE, i dont hate their SOUL/inner person. n thas ridiculous.

How would you know? Are you gay? 😕
I'm heterosexual, so I don't fully know how a homosexual feels, I simply take their word at it. And most of the gay people I have met, in my life, tell me that they were born that way.

Thousands of gay men have sought therapy and even heterosexual relationships to suppress their homosexual feelings. Very often, these feelings surface later.

Thank You Storm, you nailed it on the head.
Homosexuality isn't simply a behavior. Nor is it a lifestyle. A gay man can go his entire life without engaging in gay sex, and still be gay.
JIA, look up the bio of former Governer McGrievey. He tried his entire life to be heterosexual, even married, and he was still gay.
There are many gay men i have spoken to, who knew they were gay their entire lives, and never had gay sex until they were 30 or 40. They engaged in heterosexual relationships, yet it meant nothing to them, because it was not what they truly wanted, nor did it make them happy. They only engaged in heterosexual sex in effort to suppress thier homosexual desires.
Homosexuality is a SEXUAL ORIENTATION, not a lifestyle or behavior. A gay person does not have to have gay sex to officially "be gay".
I was a Virgin until age 18, but i was gay/bisexual far before that.
At age 9 i had my first crush on another guy.
This is not something we choose. Are you to afraid to face that because knowledge that homosexuality isn't a choice would render your Faith incorrect ? 😬
If so, then your mentality is a sad one.

I'd have to agree. I dont see why or how gays consider being gay an essential part of who they are. I'm straight, but I dont consider my orientation a main part of what makes me me. If someone told me to write down ten words that describe me, I garuntee that "straight" and "pussy chaser" would not be among them.

Would married or father (children) be on the list?

Not necassarily, because there are gay people who have kids.Explicitly declaring my sexuality wouldnt be on the list.
I agree, declaring your sexuality should not be on anyone's list, in my opinion. However, your sexuality is a big part of your life, mine and everyone else's. The results of that life is what makes us.
Sexuality is not black or white. Like everything in life, it is shades of grey. To say that any type of sexuality is only a life style, is to ignore how profoundly sexuality effect our own life.
If homosexuality is a life style, then heterosexuality is also a life style, and we both know that is not true.

Tell that to Goddess Kali...

What is exactly is the definition of lifestyle in this context? What do people mean when they call homosexuality a "lifestyle"?

What I said still stands by the way: having kids doesnt indicate a person's preference.
