Do you believe that Gay Marriage would harm Marriage in general? And why?

No I dont, I am aware that the Church holds that view but I really don't understand it.

However, I think what they are actually saying is the civil partnership undermines the sanctity of marriage which perhaps to a degree it does. It is reasonable to assume that marriage- being the sacred partnership of a man and a woman- could be made less valuable if the right to marry is extended to same sex couples.

However, I would argue that our quick marriage and divorce culture is far more harmful to marriage than Gay Marrages and I don't quite see how a Man and a Man getting married would effect heterosexual people who wish to get married.

Well, we agree mostly.

Here is a question about the Christian Church:
If Marriage is a sacred partnership within the eyes of the Church, how is gay marriage any different then non-christian marriage?

Im sorry I must be an idiot, I dont quite understand what your asking.

Are you asking why is the marriage of a man and woman considered holy but the marriage of a man and man not?

No, I'm asking, how is the marriage of a man and woman in a non-christian (like a Buddhist or Hindu marriage) religion more or less sacred then gay marriage?

I believe the Church regards the same sex marriage of a Buddhist or Hindu couple just as sacred as a Christian marriage. I couldn't speak for the Protestant Churches but then again, the Catholic Church have never released a statement on it that I'm aware of.

So, the issue is man and woman verses same sex? A marriage in another religion is the same as a Christian marriage? And speaking from your Catholic backgroup exclusively is fine.

Let me clarify what I meant.

The bond betweem the man and woman is sacred, regardless of the religion. However, I would assume the Church holds those who have been married in the name of Christ above those who havn't. Its an area I am not too sure of.

What I am getting at is a question you may not have an opinion on, and that is ok.

Does non-christian marriage erode Christian marriage in any way? I am only asking about normal marriage this time.

Nope. I wouldn't think so.

Then why would gay marriage erode marriage if non-christian marriage does not erode Christian marriage?

As I said earlier, I have no idea why the Church has that view. I dont. They do.

My original post,

My original post,

I know, but I wanted to ask the question anyway. Maybe someone else will answer the question.

If gay marriage was legal, you would jump at it. 😛

BTW Buddhist marriage is really cool.

Besides, Gay Marriage is wrong

God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
