so you dont like the idea of the revolution remote wand as the standard gaming controller? you know if its truly revolutionary, other companies are going to make that controller too, so they can get in on the profits
My point is I use what I like, and that wouldn't be something I'd use in serious play, fast type games you see?
If my friend had one, I'd be more than happy to play it though.

When I look at the new Revolution's controller, I have a mix of emotions racing around inside my head. I admire the tenacity and, frankly, the balls on Nintendo to always want to "revolutionize" the gaming industry by always introducing new ideas, but I'm not saying that Nintendo is the ONLY company to do so (Sony & Microsoft included). I will openly admit that the very first thing that went through my head when I saw the new Revoltuion controller was, "What in the f*cking sh*t are they thinking?!?!" The questions I asked myself instantly were 1) How am I going to play fighting games, and 2)Why try to "fix" something that isn't broke? Then, unlike most who, without even reading and researching, bashed the controller without a thought, I told myself that I'm not going to do what I did when I saw the N64 and GC controller and flip out and b*tch and moan like most. After reading and forming opinions in my head, I feel this is not necessarily going to "revolutionize" the gaming experience, but it will definitely enhance it. Personally, I don't give a shit about who hates what and who has the best sales or who is most popular. I like Nintendo. Period. I want the Revolution because of games like Super Smash Bros., Zelda, Metroid, and Mario. These are the games I enjoy playing, speaking as a gamer. I want to be able to download old school games from previous systems, and I don't care if Gamecube WAS, in fact, the least successful console to date or if it has the least impressive game library. I'm still happy to own one. I'm not going to buy/not buy a system because of popularity, or especially because of a goddamn controller. I have the same faith in Nintendo now that I did when I had my original NES in 1985. Plus, IMO, I think that the uniqueness of the Revolution's contoller will add an element of challenge to master and familiarize with. I see it as a positive. And just FYI, I plan to buy a PS3 as well as Revolution because I very badly want to experience the next gen FF and RE5.
I can respect that, nice post.
In regards to wether or not the controller will catch on with other systems...
I dont think it will catch on so bad that everyone will end up having one on their console. If its really good though, Micro/Sony could always make "DVD Remote" knockoffs that basically do the same thing. Like how you can play Sony games with the remote, ya just dont want to. But there are always gonna be old schoolers that rather have a pad in their hands. Im sure somewhere in the maelstrom of controller craziness, third parties will end up getting a big cut, wether its making a real controller for the gamecube that everyone bys instead of a remote, or making cool remotes for use for the other systems.
I do have to admit, in light of my last post, that I am still skeptical, just a little, over the revelation of this new controller. I'll just have to wait until EGM reviews it and runs a story about it. For all we know there could be many hidden bells & whistles we don't know shit about other than looking at the pictures.
Anyone doubting what the controllers potential is, go to Gamespot and watch the conference/presentation.
I'm sold on the controller. I can only imagine Zelda, Soul Calibre, FPS's, Resident Evil and other games using this controller - awesomeness.
Screw being old school. Nintendo have the right IDEA. Making it simple in terms of interface won't make it any less challenging. They're trying to make it accessable and more "fun" rather than sticking with same old, same old.
I won't be fully sold with the Revolution until I have a go myself, but GOD DAMMIT I want to have a go.
Im sorry but the new Nin controler is a laugh and not in a good way. The PS2 controller is the best you can get, not sure about the PS3 yet as hasnt been finallised. The Nin thing is just a tv remote with a strange anologe added to it. Yes this could making fishing games more fun but I dont think any real gamer plays fishing sims

Erm, fishing games, shooting games, exploration games, adventure games, fighting games. Every game, in fact.
Imagine a Star Wars game for a minute, with a lightsaber being controlled like this. Imagine Soul Caliber using this. Imagine Resident Evil using the system. Possibilties are endless. They may never be realised, but there's a chance for something great going on here.
Real gamers keep their minds open to new ideas. Muppet. Ignorant people like this get my back up.
And AC, even if people who hated the controller at first suddenly love it, they won't admit it.
Originally posted by Red SuperflyF off Ive been gaming for 20 years, Nin are losing in the console market and think that bringing a stupid gimmick to the table will help them it wont. And I dont see how this can help games at all, I could be wrong but I doubt it. How many games use light guns? Not many because it doesnt work and the sooner idiot like you and the guys at nin work that out the better 😎
