Sony's dropped the price of the 20gb PS3 as well as having it include an HDMI port.

In Japan only, though.

I saw that pic in the official art and was hoping it wasn't the cover, but it's okay I guess.

What does ign say will be in the gold one?

I don't think the gold one is any different except for the color. It may simply be the first edition of the game, since the Zelda series has that traditon of the first release version being a gold cartridge/box.

So similar to WW, the initial release has the gold box I showed, while the later releases will have the normally colored box.

That's just a hunch, though, based on what's been done in the past.

That would make sense.

I still have a gold cartridge of the original Zelda game. That thing is OLD.

MS offering to fix your XBOX360 for free if it was made in 2005

For a minute I was glad to see Sony give their fanbase something that could help the wallet. But only for Japan? Why not just do it for everyone?

btw- They just delay another launch title. Warhawk...so much for that.

No pricedrop for US PS3s.

I was at EB the other day and they have a deal for Xbox 360s, trade in your old Xbox or PS2 + 20 games, get a 360 for free (RRP for 360 = $650). The guy there was on the phone talking to someone about PS3 prices, and he said trading in a console + 20 games towards the PS3 will still cost you a further $699 towards it. Feck that. 😐

($AU)

where do you live??
the nearest EB to me is in dubbo..

SA. How many EBs are there where you live? Im within 20mins of about 4.

im in 1/2 an hour of one..😐...thats it...

"It's an important weekend for the PlayStation 3 and Wii. With the Tokyo Game Show open to the public, gamers get their first chance to play the consoles and the perceptions made here could go a long way to influencing purchasing decisions when they go on sale later this year.

We spoke to several visitors as they headed into the show to find out their expectations and buying intentions regarding the PlayStation 3 and the Wii, as well as existing platforms, such as the PC and the Xbox 360.

To conduct our vox-pop survey, we stopped 40 people at random - approximately half were Japanese and half overseas visitors. Because many hard-core game fans own more than one console or handheld machine, multiple answers were allowed. Although unscientific, our survey bears out a few general perceptions of the likely fate in store for the major players.

Of the Japanese respondents, most (14 of 22 total responses, or 54 percent) were interested in trying out the PS3, whereas just 30 percent of non-Japanese visitors made Sony's console their priority.

Even though Nintendo is not at the show this year, its Wii console was the one that overseas visitors most wanted to get their hands on (12 of 27 responses, or 44 percent); the only person who would actually commit to buying anything was a Canadian who wanted a second Nintendo DS Lite handheld console. Among the locals, 27 percent intended heading straight for the Wii games on show from the likes of Sega.

As for Microsoft's Xbox 360, no Japanese professed an interest, leaving just four visitors admitting they planned on taking a look at the most mature third-generation console. Such discouraging news for Redmond was, however, tempered by a visit to the Xbox 360 stand on the show floor, where waiting times for new games, such as Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, stretched to almost three hours at times.

Finally, in our impromptu survey, two people singled out PC games as their main interest, one from each side of our crude regional divide and, although the market is huge and growing, no one admitted to coming to the show specifically for cell phone games."

Most people seem to be most interested in the Wii, followed by the PS3.

What REALLY surprised me was only FOUR f***ing people actually planned or went to the Microsoft area and none of the Japanese expressed interest in the Xbox 360.

Ouch. Nationalist racism is strong in Japan, my young padawan....

It IS pretty, but after the whole Warhawk thing I'm still wondering if much of that is actually in-game footage.

I like it, but, for me at least, even Final Fantasy isn't worth $660+.

The XBOX 360 was actually announced to be a failure over in Japan.

(Notice my Japanese Avatar and Signature)

DON'T CALL THE JAPANESE RACIST!!!!

They just stick to their values much strongly than others in some cases.

It's not?

You must be out of your mind.

No, I'm just playing.

But the Final Fantasy Games is like the Number 1 Reason why I know I will definitely be getting a Playstation 3 Someday.

is it comprehensible.....

It's also the reason I will grab a PS3 from a bargain bin in, say, three or four years. That is, if FFXIII doesn't end up on the 360.

Then get the $500 system. It has HDMI now.

The PS2 was originally $500 too...

I personally would wait until the price drops as any rational person would do for three reasons:

1) All new technology is bound to have bugs.

2) It will get cheaper as time gets by.

3) Better to buy it cheaper when there are more games out and more support for it.

Which is why I'm waiting on all three next-gen systems. Besides, FFXII will keep me busy for months.

I would do similar, but Link is beckoning far too strongly for me to wait on a Wii.

Besides, Nintendo seems to be almost exempt from launch bugs.

N64: Got Christmas of year it came out, still works (though Sept.-Dec. is a good long time to fix bugs, so I dunno if it's strictly a launch version)

GBA: Got about a month after debut, still works

GCN: Got on first day, died after FOUR years. In comparison, the GC that my brothers got soon thereafter died in two months.

DS: Got within the first week, still works great (for my sister)

Lite: First day, still works beautifully.

Nintendo, as I remember, puts their consoles through very rigorous bugtesting.
