I just checked the site. Does the fact that it's not American have any effect on what you order? Would the Wii still play all the games over here? They also say that it's available August 6th and the fact that I don't know how to convert their prices to dollars doesn't help either.
is it comprehensible.....
As said, IR, they only do DVD sales in the States. Play is generally a resource for UK customers only. I dunno about this August talk, either.
But to answer the question more generally, I understand that Wii games are format free.
The Wiis themselves, internationally, will have the more general and traditional problems of voltage and plug size. But with the release dates so close, I don't think anyone will bother importing.

Wrong about the format-free thing...

One person says region-free, another says region-specific...I wonder which it actually is?
InnerRise, even if you didn't have the voltage issues and stuff with importing a system, the exchange rate would screw you over majorly.

Oh wow! Gamestop has sunk to a new low:

Hmmmm. That's the first I've heard/seen of anything like that.
It sounds to me more like it's an incentive thing - trade in your old system for your pre-order deposit. The fact that the poster says it's a one-week thing supports that, as well. The article's making it out like you can't reserve unless you trade in a system, which I really doubt to be the case.

No thanks.
I keep my old systems until I truly get bored with them, and I've never reserved a system either. With the Wii there will be a fairly good amount of systems available, I'm going to wait it out for the rush to die down and more games to come out.
Whoever gets my gifts for me for christmas never pre orders. They always want to wait until the last minute. In the pasts, I've always gotten my systems on christmas day. Somehow they always manage to suprise me and get it. I've never gotten, "Well they were all sold out, sorry."
But I think that may be a little too confident this year to think that way, but they will and we'll see.

I only pre-order games because I hate taking my time going on the bus to get the game, only to relize its not there because they understocked.
It's only a time issue and sometimes I do really want to play that game.
But as of now in my city, there's tons of places selling games and consoles. I'm not worried.
