No point in getting component cables for PS2. It won't improve your picture much if your TV is non-HDTV.
And there are relatively few HD games for PS2 that give a max of 480p.
Only games that come to mind are God of War and Tekken 5.

Do you need a certain kind of television to hook it up or do you have to buy the S-Video or Component cables seperately?
s video you need a port that looks like this and a 4 pin cable to match
for component you need these cables and colour ports to match
Originally posted by Draco69I happen to have both of those games, but I don't play them anymore.

What do you mean when you say "HD TVs for the PS2"??
They have HD TVs specifically made for the PS2?
is it comprehensible.....

No. I meant High-Definition Games. High-Definition Games are compatible with HDTVs to give a greater picture quality.
Most games are not HD.
HD games for the PS2 only support a maximum of 480p which is the lowest on the HD scale.
Oh ok.
I know whenever I try to put a game on Progressive Scan, my screen will turn completely Blue or Black but I can still hear sound from the game and I can still control stuff so I have to practically guess where to go on screen and how to get it off of Progressive Scan since the screen was completely blue/black and I couldn't see anything or where to go or what to press.
Those were some scary times. I tried it like 2 or 3 times. Not all at the same time for the same game of course.

Progessive Scan is basically HD 480p. Since you obviously didn't have a HDTV, the television was not able to discern the HD signals from the game (if it was in HD).
You can only play an HD game on a HDTV.

No. If I play a ordinary game in HD and the picture doesn't show that that means it's not HD.
Most DVDs can be "upscaled" to HD (480p) using progressive scan nowadays.
Games however cannot...

Here's what you said earlier: "Progressive Scan is basically HD 480p"
And so I said that I had switched over to Progressive Scan. I understand that since I didn't have a HD TV that it didn't display in HD, it didn't display at all actually. Ok. Established.
Then you say: "Since you obviously didn't have a HDTV, the television was not able to discern the HD signals from the game (if it was in HD)."
And to that I say, where does the "(IF IT WAS HD)" come in? I switched over to Progressive Scan which means, according to you, that I had switched over to HD Signals, so although I didn't have a HD TV, therefore no picture, I was still using HD Signals, according to you. But then at the end you say "(If it was HD)".
I don't get that.
Do you not believe that I know how to switch over to Progressive Scan?
If this is confusing, sorry. Maybe you mixed your words up and that's why I'm confused or maybe one of us just isn't getting out thoughts across as accurately as we would like.

Umm...I think that what he meant was that if you had an HD game, and an HDTV (both, mind you), and switched it to progressive scan, you'd be getting an HD signal. That's all.

I'm just asking questions to further my knowledge in this area. How else do you learn things. Whether you think it's necessary or not really doesn't matter anyway.
