Hmmmm..Nintendo seems to be the only company that got smart on the emulation thing. I used to have the ZNES emulator(Super Nintendo Emulation Utility) a bit back, as well as ones for the NES - and several for various atari systems.
I imagine if Nintendo is successful with this, then at some point - Sony and Microsoft will follow suite - possibly acquiring licensing rights for games developed on older systems(Turbo Graffix(sp?) 16, Sega Genesis...)
Then again - Nintendo might be the only company to gain profit from this - based on the fact that they have been in gaming much longer - and already have a huge libray of licensed games and emulators to choose from.(without incurring any additional overhead costs of course.)

Sega is trying to get money any way it can so they will let all the consoles use its games. They just have to drop Sega a penny so it's employees can feed there families. So when Xobx and SP3 copy the wii they will get sega games as well.
Sega is now a console whore......and I am lovin it...... go sega

No problem - allow me to briefly explain.
Emulator - Software program used to copy a specific hardware component. In gaming, it is generally used to denote a software program, that copies the hardware and OS of an older gaming device(game system) Some emulators used on PC's also copy the functionality of various periphal devices as well(like Adobe Acrobat -- it is essentially a printer emulation program - that is used to convert documents to PDF(Page Defined Format) format)
ROM - The "Read Only Memory" instructions extracted from the game cartridge. Essentially this is just like a virtual cartride, that can be played upon loading it with the emulated gaming hardwared.(usually by dragging and dropping it on the executable that the ROM is run on -- of course this is depending on how good of an emulator it is)
I recommend ZNES Windows as a Good SNES emulator. I think there are a couple of good ones out their for PS1(There was one on sale at the computer stores quite a bit ago, although the PS1 emulator is rather ludicrous to own, seeing as how the newer PS2 is backward compatible -- with its games), N64, NES, Game boy Advance, and various other older systems
You can download the ROM's from various sites, however - as Dirk stated - you must make sure that you own an actually copy of the game in order to legally do so.

HaHaHaHaHa..yes good Ol Sonic is not "running" in with the dollars as much as he used to.(A little wordplay..Sonic is obviously good at running - and a big money maker for Sega)
On a serious note - I do think Sega is doing fairly well on the software development side, they've been in it for about 5 years now - and they are still up and "running."(He..He..He. Another Sonic analogy) No reason to knock them for choosing to go down this road. Most of the other companies will have to do this soon - as gaming systems slowly get integrated into the standard PC(Which is bound to happen soon - with the rapid rise of PC gamers over the past 10 years, or so...)

Check out PS3 presale prices on ebay. Some over are over 3000 bucks now talk about rich people paying 3000 bucks for a video game console. crazy.
