It's true, they're isnt any killer apps for the launch..but when has they're been?

PS2 had a lack lustre line up with its big games as Madden, SSX, Timesplitters and the game of all games, Dynasty Warriors ( Oh yea)
That's a pretty crappy lineup to me. Timesplitters 1, wasnt that great.

Gamecube had a crappy list too, with Wave Race:Blue Storm, and Luigi's Mansion. Rogue Squadron was pretty cool, but not nearly an killer app.

The PSP had a pretty crappy launch list too.
Same with the DS.

A failed launch doesnt really showcase how good the console will sell. The PS2 outsold XBOX, not because of its launch, but because of the time factor. It was out for an whole year before, and when the XBOX and GC came out, the PS2 was getting ready to release games like ICO, GTA 3 and other crazy good games.

It might happen this year with the PS3 launch, because they're good games coming out for the XBOX 360 later this year.
Lastly, whenever somebody says well, Sony will win again this generation because it won the past two generations. I tell them to think clearly because how did Sony take the mantle from Nintendo?

Displacement Mapping - Uses very few polygons but uses a mesh over them. Therefore a few polygons look like alot.

Nintendo made a patent on this so they are going to use it. So even though the specs of Ps3 and 360 overwhelm the Revolution vastly, the revolution will still be just as amazing in graphics. But i agree in saying that graphics dont matter and its ALL about how you play the game. The controller rules.

Does anyone know whats happening with Ps3's hardrive? i heard they might not even use it in games, saying that the memory sticks will do that job (leaving posibilities to maybe being backwards compatible with Ps2 and Ps1 memory cards). In that same article they said that a 80gig hardrive would be released after launch only used for movies, pictures, mp3s and such. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

**** that, i'm for sure going to mod my PS3 to use regular PC hard drives. For sure.

If this is a reply to my post.. well I said the XBOX360 DEBUT was a fail, they tried to do a world launch.

Yah, i agree with all of you that just because it had a crappy launch doesn't mean it's gonna have a crappy life.

I admit it, i'm a Microsoft hater but if Xbox happens to suprise me and have one of the best libary of games ever, then i'll buy it. But only time will tell.

good call, if that would happen that would be a terrible on sony's behalf, they should at least go like 360 and have a core and premium package

Ps3 will win because of Japan and Europe. The ps2 killed xbox there. Xbox 360 failed in Japan, so that means Sony is well loved there.

The console war of most sold will be Ps3 of course. THe ps1 and ps2 both sold 100 million units each and counting Worldwide. It has a massive fanbase.

ps2 killed nothing lol. The only reason ps2 won because it had a year head start and the japanese bought it because it was cheaper than a dvd, and later on they had ff games and rpgs. 360 just came out so it's still early. Who knows, the ps3 might explode when you touch the boomerang.

The Ps3 killer applications will most likely be FF7 remake and grand trasimo 5 and maybe a Gta 4.

GT3 was the killer application for th2 ps2.

Xbox 360 is all halo 3.

No if you put all the game boys together from 1989 it beats all systems.

Cyber Ninja i think you forget how popular GTA san andreas was. It beat Halo 2 hard. San andreas was one of the best selling games since Super mario 3!!!! VC was just as popular too.

Psp FAILEDDDDDDDDDDDD in japan and almost everywhere else. Ds raped that handheld.

It's probably 80 times better than gta but fanboys of the series won't care and get gta which is probably on the 360 anyway. Also Nintendo Rev will rape them both.

Ps3 might cost 500 dollars because of blue ray discs.
