Mormons

My favorite film about Christ is the old 1977 JESUS OF NAZARETH, which was a made for TV miniseries. Its quite good.

No, the best one is the happy Jesus movie...........I think it's called "Jesus".......He seems more human there......

He seems incredibly human in JESUS OF NAZERETH (1977).

But he laughs more in the "Jesus" movie.........smiles a lot too....... ๐Ÿ˜„

Have you seen JESUS OF NAZERETH?

Yeah...long time ago....and it was ok...I guess the one I can't stand is I think "The greatest Story Ever told".....I think that's it.....He never smiles in that movie......looks depressed all the time.

What do you mean, you know more about the topic of polygamy?

Than some ignorant people who only like to bash Mormons.

Why? Did you think I meant that I know more then you? I don't know what you know, or don't know. ๐Ÿ˜„

MOBSTERS AND MORMONS was a pretty decent film, but I actually grow tired of those comedies that seem to poke fun at the flaws of church membership. While things like that are certainly true, and sadly funny...its not the face I would prefer to have the world see.

Have you seen The Best Two Years? Or how about The Other Side of Heaven? Those are two LDS movies that, although have comedic moments do really touch on the spirit within the church.

They are my favorites and they are the ones that I feel more at ease with sharing with my non-member friends. Because...even if I'm really laid back about sharing the gospel...to the point where I kinda stay away from sharing it...I feel like they can enjoy those movies and get a little taste of something that really does have a huge meaning in my life.

Maybe it's wrong of me not to want to share the gospel. All of my close LDS friends DO share the gospel...with everyone...kinda aggressively. (not aggressive like mean, but aggressive like...they are adamant to share what they believe and they don't really take no for an answer)

I feel like...I wanna be your friend. If you aren't LDS then that's not a big deal...at all. I'm going to live my life in my way. Yes, the subject of my beliefs will arise. When you ask me something I will answer you. Once I know that you are interested then I will speak with you more often about it. If you want to know more than I am able to share I'll bring in missionaries. If you are still really into it...I'm all about you getting baptized.

I believe that if you want to join the church you have to be ready for your whole life to change...cuz it WILL. I don't believe in pressuring people. I don't believe that people should feel guilty if they chose not to join the church...and I know some people who do.

I take the same approach with Visiting Teaching with the inactive members. I'll call and talk to them, ask if I can come over so that they can get to know me...and we'll become friends before there is any religion shared. They know the same thing I know...and they obviously have reasons for being inactive. I understand...I was inactive for a long time and I couldn't stand when church people would come over an interrupt my life. So I feel like actually becoming friends...and letting the church part sit on the backburner is much more helpful.

Uhm....I'm ranting. Sorry guys. I've spent the say with my family and we get REALLY talkative...and we laugh a lot....a lot.

Uh...yeah. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

If you hadn't mentioned before that you were LDS I don't know if I would have realized it. I dunno why. I don't mean any offense...I just wouldn't have thought that you were. Of course...people used to tell me that A LOT. And I was a little offended by it...so...yeah, I'm sorry.

Oh...and I like movies that depict Christ smiling and happy too. He was a very kind man. I'm certain that he loved to laugh and was probably quite funny. I don't like movies where it seems to forget about that...that he was a man and he had joyful moments as well as sad and diffcult moments.

I mean geez...after he'd been beaten and nailed to the cross he prayed for the people who had done this to him...and he asked Heavenly Father to forgive them. Could you have done that? Could you have been so selfless and loving as to ask for forgiveness for people who were torturing and mocking and killing you?

A man with that kind of love had to have smiled a lot in his life.

man, I'm really into ranting a lot tonight. Alrighty...I'm gonna go eat my supper now.

Took me forever, but I finally read through all your posts and feel prepared enough to join in. I haven't seen any LDS movies for a while, but when I did see it, I loved The Best Two Years. It gave me a really good feeling.

Ranting is okay when others are willing to listen.

Enjoy your supper.

I should apologize....I was enjoying the ambivelant nature of the argument on 'judging religion based on its membership.'

I think you're very right, when we were studying the New Testament in seminary my teacher liked to point out moments where he thinks Jesus would have smiled, or laughed. As an example, when he was in a very crowded place preaching, and some men wanted him to heal their friend very badly, but couldn't get through so they started to lower him from the roof, he said that probably would have made him smile. Or when the rich man, who was too short to see Jesus over the crowd when he was coming to Jerusalem, so he climbed a tree. He always said that God and Jesus must have the best sense of humor.

Anyway... I like the newer movie the church came out with called finding faith in Christ. You feel the spirit so strongly, and I love the way in which it shows him serving others.

And uh.. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Cinafran! *glomps* took you long enough!

you are a special kid. ๐Ÿ™„

Do you have any statement to make that shows that you have an IQ higher than a 3 year old?

i'd like to bring up the strained relationship between mormons and jews. see, we were some of the biggest supporters of mormons after they emerged as a new faith since we were the most tolerant towards their beliefs. Unfortunately, since the holocaust relations are bad. The church of latter day saints has made it a policy to baptize holocaust victims. We consider that grave desecration and have told mormons to stop. and each time they said they would, only to lie and continue doing it. Now, we don't pee on mormon graves so stop desecrating ours. If you are mormon and know of any of these sermons or projects taking place, tell whoever's running them that no means no.
