I'm just saying throughout the whole movie the Joker plays this sort of mastermind, having a plan behind everything, then at the end he lets lose and has no backup plan and everything's set.. the Batman wins ect. I don't see it that way.

He DID have a masterful plan.

He didn't think they'd figure it out. He also didn't think that the people on the boats wouldn't destroy each other because he had a fundemnetal flaw on his understanding of the altruism in humanity. That's why he failed.

\If Heath Ledger hadn't killed himself, whick would give the option to bring him back... and also Rachel Dawes. The Joker wouldn't have killed her.
