But really though, I don't like when people say I looked better. Or look better.
Let me look how I want to look because my happiness is more important than fitting what everyone wants.
all those pages of gens posting and you get the thousandth, brilliant.
and gd post too! you're damn right
The place I submitted it to seems to publish mostly cheap, cheesy horror, so I dunno really, it needs to have a good cover to set it apart from the rest of the books so it doesn't get lost in a sea of vampires and zombies and shit. The publisher I originally was going to send it to, well I found a load of blog posts saying they'd become unethical and ripped off their authors, that depressed me a bit, I so thought they were the publisher for me. I wish horror wasn't such a debased genre. mmm

Have you thought about submitting it to an agency?

Credible agencies won't charge you to be on their roster, but will take a cut if the book sells. It may be looking into though, like certain agents specialize in certain genres, and they obviously have good connections to publishers, sort of like a filter for publishers to sift through the crap.
I guess I have to wait to see what this publisher says first, I mean if they can convince me that it won't be marketed in the same way as the more 'obvious' horror novels then I'd probably see how that goes first. Tbh in horror, all you need is a recommendation from Stephen King and you're set, and he chucks his praise at anything different, really. Not the best thing to rely on in terms of success, though.
Originally posted by Bardock42I hadn't really thought of it before. Definitely worth a shot though, cheers for the idea. Proper authors generally deal with agents and agencies quite a lot so maybe it is the route to go down, as long as I have the confidence that what I've written is good. mhmm
