The 2,000,000th post game

Read the other day, just a line, about an opening called the Faulkbeer CounterGambit.

I don't think I got even the basic idea of it right, 'cause I only looked at what general shape the pawns near the center formed, not even what they looked like in relation to the other pieces.

But whatever it is I did here, it worked out in the end, giving me a win via my opponent's resignation, though I don't know if he should have or not.

Here's the game log, and keep in mind the "emt%" crap is just recording how much time either of us took to make a move; presumably recorded as a percent of the total time each of us had to start with, which was 10 minutes apiece.

Hm. Technical difficulties.

Better luck next time I guess ...

Well, a re-run of a favorite in the meantime ...

Recent game where an opponent played the Sicilian against me.
Unwitting illustration of the power of Queenside castling;
without my doing so, he'd have wrecked me:

By this point in the game I'm down a rook and a bishop and a pawn.

I lost my phone once. It was full of unflattering pics of me doing unflattering things. A young guy found it, he lived far away so far I had to have a sibling pick it up. Let's just say the guy who found my phone felt intimidated by my gay machismo that my sibling said, "And he had two girls on each arm". Its sad when a straight man is intimated by a gay mans presence.

The Rook

The Rook moves horizontally and vertically any number of squares, forwards or backwards. In the diagram the Rook can move to any of the highlighted squares.

In this diagram the Rook now has less choice of squares to which it can move because the other White pieces block its path. It can now only move to the highlighted squares.

If an enemy piece is standing on a square to which the Rook can move, it can be captured. In the next diagram, White is able to capture the Bishop with her Rook. She does this by removing the Bishop from the board and placing the Rook on that square instead.

Observe the diagram below.

The Rook captures the Bishop and claims the square for itself!
