I should probably point out with all these gambits and sacrifice plays I'm showing that your opponent does NOT have to take what you're offering. The following game opens with the King's Gambit (review above to see what that is) DECLINED, that is, my opponent ignores the "free" pawn I'm offering and simply goes on to pursue other pieces. If you've been following either this thread or know the game of chess reasonably well, you know his goal is to pin and/or win my knight by heavy implied threat to my Queen, with a bonus of breaking up my King's castle if I respond wrong here:
Fortunately, even a declined King's Gambit leaves one in a good position to counterattack -- PROVIDED you have sense enough to target and maintain focus on his KING and practically nothing else. I do so here and win relatively quickly.
I would have had a VERY hard road and likely lost if I'd gotten into anything resembling actual piece for piece trading.
