Since her 1959 debut, Barbie has held over 200 jobs, including astronaut, equestrian, and computer programmer. She became an astronaut in 1965, four years before Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. And in the '90s, she decided to run for president.
In 1989, Barbie joined the Army; in 1990, the Air Force. A year later, she joined the Navy and then, in 1992, the Marines. Her uniforms—ranging from battle dress uniform (BDU) to formal military dress—were approved by the Pentagon.
Naysayers point out that if Barbie were an actual woman, she would be 5'9” tall, weigh 110lbs, have a 39” bust, an 18” waist, 33” hips and a size 3 shoe. At 5'9” tall and weighing 110 lbs, Barbie would have a BMI of 16.24 and fit the weight criteria for anorexia.
Mattel, Inc. issued a statement saying these ppl were way overthinking it.
