I am, especailly when Mr Parker comes in just when we have something postive to say about both Batman and Batman Returns. Then he goes of into his little mini speeches saying things like Oh Tim Burton is a drug head and Batman and Batman Returns are absoulty crap. Which is not true at all.

Sure it is.you just refuse to take the blinders off and accept that.. 😄

I like the two Burton Batman movies and along with Doc Ock, I am one of their most strongest supporters on the Batman forums. I am just annowed at Parker who keeps puting the films down. And yes I do agree that Batman and Batman Returns are not the most true to the chracter of Batman as much Batman Begins, but this does not make them bad films.

Dude hate to break the news to you but this IS the anti Burton Batman thread.you visit this thread, your going to see a lot of burton bashing going on. 🙄

guys ... stop the arguing ... get back on topic please? how many times did i have to repeat it?? and yet nobody listens... still .... -_-"

oops .. i double posted sry...

I tried to get back on topic by Bashing the Burton films which is what this thread is about, but as you can see,Scarecrow didnt want to keep it on the subject about the burton films because he felt the need to bring my name up. 🙄 and as you saw,I was trying to get this topic back to its topic which is BURTON IS A MORON WHEN IT COMES TO BATMAN MOVIES.somehow people dont seem to realise thats what the topic of this thread is,that its to bash The Burton batman movies if they so desire. 🙄

and.....

ALL Burton bashing is well deserved. Burton and Miller before him had NOTHING to do with the present Batman portrayal in either comics or books. For the relevant inspiration travel back in time to the Schwartz/Austin era. Where for those of us who read comics in the seventies Adam Wests 60's camp was put to rest.

🙂 Burton set the cause of Batman being respected by non comic readers back a decade and a half! He also paved the way for the awful 3 sequels.

Finally someone who wants to keep the subject on the topic without bringing my name into the picture.Interesting post there Whirly, thanks for coming on here and posting that for us. 👆

🙂

my opinion: i really didnt like the burton batman movies much because Keaton wasnt really in tip top shape as Batman/Bruce Wayne as portrayed in the comics.I mean he couldn't even take his shirt off w/o being exposed as just some coach potato and we all know Bats has peak human strength & is ripped w muscles... o yeah, not to mention has a full head of hair that keaton lacked a wee bit too. and thats the way Bale looked in Batman Begins.

Tim burton is a whore and a hack. Burton bastardized the first two movies about the Dark Knight because he wanted to give it his "signature goth image" style that he thinks is what makes him a damn "artist". Batman doesnt kill. Thats first and foremost why I hate that Burton directed these films. Joker and Penguin would never have been allowed to die. Plus, correct meif Im wrong, but isnt Bats also the wolds greatest DETECTIVE??? What did Batman detect in Burtons films? Nada. Zip. Nothing. I can go on and on all day, but I will wrap up and say that Tim Burton is even worse of a Batman director than Joel Schumacher.

i agree burton sucks, his only good movie was Nightmare Before Christmas...lol

i have ... was that a burton movie?? 😑

Yes... it was a Burton movie and one of the best movies of all time!

I was never all that fond of the Burton films myself. I'm not as ... vehiment ... as some other posters, but it really did bother me when Batman bombed that factory. The Joker's death? Well, maybe Batman was expecting that the hellocopter would stay near to the building when the pilote realized what happened, instead of going up and yanking the statue of the ledge. Penguine? That was a pure accident; he couldn't have known that he'd fall backward through the glass. But blowing up a lot of low level thugs with bombs from the Batmobiel? Shameful.

And Keaton really didn't work as Batman. I didn't notice that he was horribly out of shape, just ... wrong. Too short, maybe. He looked kind of silly, in my opinion.

It's too bad, because if you completely forget that it's a Batman film, most of Batman '89 is actually quite good. Cinimetography, direction, acting, the music ... all good. But then you remember, hey, this is supposed to be a Batman movie, and things sort of fall apart. It feels to me as if whoever wrote it had never read a Batman comic, and was basing his movie around one-sentence character descriptions someone had given to him. "Batman: vigilante, beats up criminals because his parents were murdered by a mugger." "Joker: Insane clown, scarred after falling into a chemical vat." "Gordon: Police commissioner of Gotham city." The result is a movie featuring a bunch of characters who are sort of like their comic-book counterparts, but not really. And that hurts it a lot.

That being said, Burton didn't write the thing. It was written by Sam Hamm and Warren Skaaren, and most of the films' problems can probably be traced back to them, not Burton.

Exactly! Everyone puts all the blame on Burton... he was just the director, I mean the overall signature look and feel of the film was thanks to him, the writing wasn't... yes I get Keaton shouldn't have been picked for Bats, I kinda didn't feel Jack Nicholson was right for the Joker yet I can't seem to see any other actor for the part now... just too familiar with him as the Joker now I guess... that's why I can't wait to see the new Joker in BB2.

Batman Begins is not so loyal to the comics either.Everyone knows Batman had a hand in creating the Joker. But that's clearly not the case in BB.

How are you so sure? Did you ever at least consider the thought that maybe it was just jack (prior to his transformation to joker) who robbed that bank and killed the 2 people? Leaving his "literal" signiture calling card behind? Since i left the theatre after seeing BB the first time, I was always under that impression. Im almost certain that in the BB sequel they will show how Batman created the joker.
