Because they came to him with the movie idea and asked him what his take on it would be and that's what it was... I don't really know if Burton requested they make a Batman movie and let him direct it but I highly doubt he did... he was so famous as a director in '89 and the 90's that they thought he would be perfect for the film.... so stop cussing the poor man out, he's a brilliant director and its not his fault if that is how he thought the movie should be, he makes films for crying out loud, not Batman comics!

your just in denial on that.Yes there is a difference between comic books and moviemaking I understand that,what what fans like YOU dont understand and REFUSE to understand is that a movie "Can" be good and stay loyal to the source material at the same time.Sam Raimi and Tim Burton could use some pointers from Nolan and Richard Donner from superman on how to make a good comicbook movie AND stay loyal to the source material at the same time because he is clueless.

Batman Begins is much better than that horrible spider-man 2 movie. and the buron films

Maybe you'll at least listen to Mr parker or bakerboy because they has just spelled it out plain and simple for you WHY sm2 is not even in the same league as Batman Begins and Superman as a great film.SPIDER-MAN is my favorite hero but like them,I know when one superhero movie is done better than the other and they just spelled it out for you in the past.

thank god Tim Burton did not make another Batman film.Batman Forever was the only fairly good Batman movie of the four that were made.Its really sad so many people here dont care how Burtons Batman movies butchered to death his character and cant see how horrible his films really are.That so many people here can actually be serious that they like Burtons crapfest movies better than Begins.The one and only true batman film.

oh and Both the spider-man movies were just horrible and sucked big time. 😛

The public represent the movie goers. The movie goers put money into the box office. The Spider-Man movies are in the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time. Between them they have made 1.6 billion dollars.
They are hailed by the critics. Spider-Man 2 won an Oscar.

Actually there have been countless of people doing that over the years dating back to 2002 critisizing Tobey and Raimi from the very beginning and the flaws of Raimi's man -spider films.Maybe its happening more and more often now with the new film coming out but at the same time it has been going on for years where people have bashed Maguire and Raimi's Man -Spider films.Thats nothing new at all.The bashing is going on because there hasnt been a good Spider-Man movie made yet.

Superman still holds that honor and it will be pretty tough to take the crown from him but BB I think will indeed be right up there as one of .This gives me hope that maybe 15 or 20 years down the road hollywood will also have learned from their mistakes with Spider-Man and do the character of Spider-Man justice like they are finally doing with Batman.
