I'm not going to say that Burton was an idiot. In fact, I think he might have saved comic book movies. The last one made before that was either Return of Swamp Thing (which I liked) or Supergirl (made for TV) and neither of them were going to do comic books any good.
Even though I feel that Tim Burton did a terrible representation of Batman and wasn't even close to comic book correct I think it paved the way for the near perfect Batman Begins that we know and love. Tim Burton was never the right man for the job but it was a long time ago and we didn't know better. There are plenty of things that Tim Burton does very well and I'm a big fan of his movies. I like his style. I don't like the first two movies. Not that much. There still nice but I'm not a huge fan or even a fan.
Then there was Joel Schumacker! If there was a man that deserved to be crucified for what he did it was him. He is the leading cause for inbreeding in this world today. What he did was a grave injustice to all humanity. Of course I'm exaggerating, but it's funny to me. I would kill Joel Schumacker if it weren't for Falling Down and Phone Booth and just about anything else he does. Good Director , BAD MOVE. BAD JOEL! BAD, BAD, JOEL!

I agree with the thread starter of this thread.Tim Burton is a moron when it comes to Batman movies.Casting Keaton was stupid. He couldnt even take off his shirt w/o showing his flabby gut he had and batman is in peak physical condition.Keaton also lacked a full head of hair on his head and The Joker did not kill Bruce Waynes parents. Those are just a few reasons why Burtons Batman movies suck.

Burton casted Keaton because that's what Burton does... he reuses all his fav actors and actress in his films, that's just how he is... obviously at the time he thought it would give an interesting spin on Batman, I don't know, make him seem like he could be anybody from your high school History teacher to your dad...
And the whole Joker killing the Waynes... I think he was just trying to give the movie depth and give Batman a reason to really want to see the Joker fail... and he was just trying to tie everything together while giving a backstory we would understand... I'm not saying it was right just that I see where he was trying to go with it all.
Personally if the first Batman movie wasn't "the first Batman movie" and I wasn't raised on it like I was I wouldn't back it so much.
But if it wasn't such a huge part of my childhood (that and the second one which is SO much better than the first) and I didn't love Tim Burton as a director so much I could definitely see where you are all coming from with the whole hating his style for the movie and how it is so wrong comic-wise... but I have to look past all that and forgive it for all its wrongs... cuz that is just what ya do when you've loved something for that long, you stick with it even when you know its not 100% correct you just do it out of love and seniority!
Wow... that turned into an interesting little thing didn't it... sounds like the first Batman movie is an abusive drunk that I've been in love with since the early 90's or something like that... well I've got it in AA and we're working together on the angry management so stop giving it such a hard time about it!!! One step at a time damnit!!! LOL!
I'm such an idiot... so I'll just go now......
