USH'S ORIGINAL TRILOGY GAME EPISODE I 'LANZAR'- Rebel Alliance Thread

I am afraid not, no, all your objectives there are actually means as well.

In which case, instead of aiding you in achieving a means, your contact will instead simply define to you what the resson you are there for is.

"You think the Emperor is determined to destroy the Osokans? Then why would he bother with a ground invasion?"

Anyone may answer.

"Are they there to seize and/or destroy the Jedi Extermination Squad records? Orbital bombardment may not ensure their destruction. Besides, maybe the Emperor wants that list for himself."

Heck, you wouldn't tell this guy about that! I'm not even sure if you know yet. One thing you can be fairly sure of though- the Imperials themselves most likely don't know. Also, the Emperor already has the list- the point is that Lanzar is the only place outside of Coruscant that you can get it.

Leaving aside the secret part of the plot, look at the straightforward bit. Literally, why WOULD the Imperials bother with a land invasion?

Cause they need something, or because they want to secure something fragile (maybe this is still the same thing), but normally you send in troops when you need something or you need to hold a key area for a while Plus Lanzar has that shield that will protect it from aireal bombing no?

(A show of power? A warning against future dissent? Geez, I'm bad at this...)

Fire has it.

"It's the shield generator," he says. "Without that, Lanzar City would be so much rubble within half an hour. They don't need to TAKE Lanzar- you are telling me they are going to destroy it. The only reason to send in the troops is to destroy that generator. If the generator goes, you lose.

"What you need to do is to stop them destroying that generator for as long as possible. Anything else you do is irrelevant- the time before the generator is destroyed is the only timer you have."

okie, why in ****S name didn't we thingk of that, argh I can hit myself for this, it was so bloody obvious

(Yeah, well you can hit me too, while you're at it. I really thought about the whole thing too hard. Well, now we know. Now how are we going to do it?)

I'm adding something to the list-

A shitload of machine guns.

slow their progress on the way to it.

So we need to rethink our plan, then?

And like I said, Ush, I would like Galahad to hold a meeting with all the Rebel players to see who will want to know the secret plot and make sure they know the dangers combined with said secret (those being that the Empire will actively hunt them for merely the knowledge). It seems obvious to me that it would be better planned out beforehand than on the spot, seeing as it entails anything from negotiations with Drakkon to thievery.

Hmm...

The way Odrus put it, it sounds like we won't be able to actually stop them.

We can. We just need more equipment.

Ush, are there portable shield generators that could shield the shield generator?

We're just trying to make me broke, aren't we? 😛

I know you said that, Galahad, but the meeting doesn't seemed to have happened yet, so I still don't know who knows!

And nope, shield generators are seriously large gear.

Oh, right, I was just pointing out that I still want that meeting to happen.

So, we need to focus on stopping the destruction of the shield generator. With troops, it's easy; get heavy gear to fire down on them, hold them off with everything we've got, etc. How are we going to stop the walkers? Same way we were planning before, with bombs and mines?

We should probably keep the same objectives that Fire detailed for us.

We want to jam them. We want to disorganize them. We want to take out officers and key threats.

However, now we want to do it from inside the shield.

What does Odrus advise for keeping them from reaching the shield generator itself?

Well, as I say, having given you your objective, that has kinda 'cashed in' your help there.

But he will say, as you just mentioned it, that you can;t think about staying within the shield- frankly, once they are in the city it's just a matter of time, and not much time. You would do better to slow them in the jungle. That said, the city is probably the only place you can fight outright, but that's a desperate measure.

"Mind you," he adds, "I think you are making a pretty big assumption in thinking they will make a landing at all. An Osokan shield generator? Doesn't fill me with confidence. You wouldn't get me in that city for all the spice on Kessel. The Imperials will want the most direct solution they can find- and being in that city strikes me as being like sheltering from a meteorite storm with an umbrella.

Good luck with that."

He cuts contact.

Alright, so our plan holds, just might need a few tweaks. We need to keep them from entering the city.

And the shield.
