"Politics were never going to stop the invasion, Cass, you know that," Galahad responds. "It was a matter of whether or not they would invade legally. Still, the eggs are not reason enough to demolish Lanzar City and wipe the Osokans from existence. It is more a matter of the blockade. But it certainly does not help."
Galahad turns to Drakkon. "My apologies, Guildmaster. I knew that Lanzar was a major trading site, and I supposed that it was government money. My own homeworld is lavishly wealthy, as it is. I did not know it was made off of the eggs, nor did I think to ask.
"Are there any other...dealings, occuring in the City, that could possibly give the Imperials legal reason to invade? The importance of the legality of their invasion is that, if they invade legally, they can continue to send more soldiers, even if you are victorious the first time around. But, if their invasion is illegal, the Senate will be outraged, and they are less likely to be sending more men."
"Trading wildlife is no justification for invasion," says Drakkon to Cass, almost lazily. "You don't know the Emperor well enough. He's sent three Star Destroyers, this 'Commissar' person, and Darth Vader, his most powerful, trusted, and above all deadly follower. Did you really ever think they were not going to see things through? Like I said, you only care because you now cannot score political points against the Emperor. With my entire people under threat, that makes little difference to me."
"And Galahad," he says, with a toothy smile. "I know you mean well, Senator. But the Emperor has made this personal. He'll launch a dozen 'illegal' invasions if need be. But frankly I doubt that will be the issue. Once we fight the Empire we are at war with it. There will be no further question of legality."
Are we talking ultimate like entire point of our presence ultimate? Because that would be to thwart the Empire and save Lanzar.
I remember that the Contact said that if the Senatorial mission could broker peace on Lanzar, then the Imperials would have no reason to be here in the first place. Has that changed, what with our attacks on the camp and the Raptor eggs? They'll still invade, of course, but does it still make their threat of invasion completely illegal?
Well, I have to say, one issue here is that you never really got a coherent game plan together, whilst the Imperials have always known what they are about.
Why ARE you here? You probably all have a slightly different spin on it. Are you here to fight the invasion? To prevent the invasion? To use the invasion as a political weapon against the Empire? There are nother motivations to consider also.
As Andran has said, with a legal blockade, the Imperials have grounds to stay even though the mission is concluded. They still need an excuse to do it, but the successful mission no longer forces them to pull out befoire they can get one.
We the motley crew and our different spins on politics...
At this point, it seems that everyone's decided that the invasion is coming regardless of our actions. It would probably be nice if we could make the invasion look like a horrid decision on the Imperial's part and royally piss off the Senate, but I know that Scarlet is here to fight the invasion.
(Ultimate Objective? Score points for the rebellion. Tied with that is the noble goal of trying to save Lanzar. Drakkon makes a good point, they are here to invade, we knew that coming in. We scewed up the blockade thing, the Imperials can stay as long as they want. Are we to stay here indefinitely as well?
I know Galahad cannot, the longer he stay, the more suspicious it is. We're almost to that point now for him. The Senate is leaving, why not the observer? We don't have any more time.
I think it's time we bring the Rebellion to the Empire. They have agents here skulking around, looking to find or manufacture an excuse to invade, they are here to disrupt the now legal ruler of the planet. We need to find the evidence of that, and the people behind it. Then when it comes time to fight those of us that can stand up and call ourselves Rebels, and show the Galaxy what the Empire is all about.
We're going for a small victory here. No matter what we do, we're going to plant nothing more than a small seed of doubt, not turn the galaxy in on itself. We can't save Lanzar, we can show the attrocity the Empire is about to commit.
Rhys Eerin and I are going to find Rylis, Arvel or whoever is skulking around down here. They've probably got someone in the palace itself. We're going to do what we can to prove the Empire is up to no good. The others should ready the defence, Galahad can try to salvage whatever politics he can.
Whew! There's a lot of thoughts in there, sometimes I have trouble coming to the point. Let's get the final act together, if anyone has ideas, now is the time.)
"Galahad. Maybe it's time for the Rebellion to come to Lanzar. I'm already marked, let me go wreak some havok with my friends here. The Imps have some due coming to them. They still don't have a reason to attack, you all try to keep it that way. We're hunting the people who started this crap, hopefully we can reveal them."
Galahad watches Kyle intently as he speaks, then nods.
"Yes, cause trouble for those Agents of the Empire, if you can find them. They have caused us enough trouble already."
He turns his gaze back to Drakkon.
"Guildmaster, I advise that the weapons should be distributed once we receive word of the Imperial army advancing on the City, preferably after the Senatorial mission has departed. Do you agree with this?"
(Ush, would it be possible to delay the departure of the Senatorial mission? How long do we have until they depart?)
