USH'S ORIGINAL TRILOGY GAME EPISODE I 'LANZAR'- Rebel Alliance Thread

"There is a possibility that Palpatine would attack if they leave," Galahad says. "If something happens that would make it seem that your power is not as secure as the Senators perceive, such as one of your rivals being incited to attack on the pretext of Imperial support or some such nonsense, Palpatine would use that as an excuse to label you all as barbarians and bomb you to smithereens. If all goes well, and nothing notable happens, then Palpatine would have no justifications.

"Still, he is...what he is. There's always the chance that he will throw cares to the wind and bomb Lanzar to smithereens regardless of the success of the mission."

Galahad paces.

"However, if the Senators are still on Lanzar, any bombing or invasions would put their lives at risk. They could die in a bombing. They could be taken hostage. They could be eaten by the dinosaurs in the jungles. Endless numbers of events could befall them. And it would be the Empire's fault.

"So you see, delaying them would be favorable. I do not know enough of what has transpired with your meetings with Andran and the others, so I cannot say how, exactly..."

Empire? Meh.

Until the Senate brings legal charges of negligence, dereliction and possible conspiracy to murder. Then the Emperor has to step in to find a way to handle it, and someone to blame, and someone has to take a fall, and then he is in a BAD mood.

Or he can ignore it... in which case Senate Sympathy for the Rebels increases further.

So the Imperials would be unlikely to try.

(too bad we can't strap a few senators to that damn shield gen

Well, it is an Empire, after all... 😛

So a successful mission with the Senate would be preferable, then?

A successful Senate mission forces the Empire to either leave or directly challenge the Senate's authority by ignoring their resolution and invading. That would be a hefty defeat for the Empire.

Whilst the mission continues, the Empire is a bit hamstrung, but they'll be looking for a way to close it. You aren't safe until it is settled.

But as your Contact told you, you can finish the Senatorial mission at any point up to which the point the Stormtroopers take the city. The longer you can physically delay the Imperials, the longer you political guys have to get a settlement. That's why the Rebels sent your fighters in as well, if you remember.

Ah, I see...

"Actually, now that I think of it, Drakkon...how close are you to finishing the negotiations?"

"Days," he says. "There are still many little details to work out."

"Then may they be worked out quickly," Galahad says.

"Meanwhile...we can impede the invasion in a physical sense. The Senate mission is in action until the stormtroopers blow in these doors, so the longer they take to get here, the longer you have to negotiate."

"Very well," he says, "you may try. Is there anything you want or require?"

"We have much to use at our dismissal already, but cooperation from your Hunters and whatever other forces you command we would be grateful for. We will be needing to place mines, most notably, and we brought catapults..."

finally, good work Alka

(I just continued where Cassius left off...who knew a fighter pilot would be a better diplomat than a diplomat...)

"Mines?" says Drakkon. "They will be useless. You can't mine the city; we need to use it. You can't mine the jungle- something will set it off long before any Imperial reaches it. But come the fight, I am sure my forces will work with yours."

This is where having gotten strategic advice from a contact would have been useful- the weapons you brought are not ideal.

Don't forget there are other things Drakkon can do for you.

freedom, and info.
We want access to all area's of the city as well as to know anything he knows or can know about imperial movement. Lets get a network going...

Indeed.

"Ah, then we will have to make other uses of them, if we can," Galahad says. "In any case, we also need access to all parts of the city, and information on your current defenses so that we can make full use of them and plan things out.

"And...there is something more, but I must consult my compatriots before allowing them to hear of my secret knowledge."

"There are no defences," says Drakkon, "so that, at least, is simple. Feel free to explore the city. I warn you against leaving its boundaries, however- the Jungle is not hospitable."

There was something else you wanted; try not to forget...

Ush, do the Hunters have turrets?

There appear to be no significant fixed defences in the city at all.

Damn. We don't have the most powerful weapon that could be useful in this situation.

Personally, I wanted to know if we could forge this alliance, if we can get a hold of the list (what's it called again? I should write it down...), and what happened to Matadan...

Hang on.
