there can be a huge difference between hentai and yaoi. first off, hentai is just plain ol' sex [among other "things"] between characters of any match [b/f, f/f, b/b, b/f/b, f/b/f, and anything else someone can come up with]. now as for yaoi...it doesn't have to deal with sex at all, unless the writer wishes to do so. yaoi is just a way to express a relationship between male characters in shows. and one really good examples of yaoi is "gravitation". now there's some kissing in the series and yea, if you're not dumb and can put 2 & 2 together, some sex scenes, but nothing that you can literally "see". i for one dont mind yaoi and actually find it interesting, but only if it is done right. in gundam wing for instance, 3x4 is a set couple, i personally couldnt see a 3x5, make sure the pairings are for one another. you can actually see a lot of it in different shows, if you watch carefully 馃槈 .

Yeah, I get where you're comin' from. I could never be like a yaoi freak. Because, quite frankly, there's just some yaoi I can't handle. I usually tend to stick to certain couple pairings I tend to like. Like:
Roy/Ed-FMA
Kai/Tyson-Beyblade
Athrun/Kira-Gundam Seed
Riku/Sora-Kingdom Hearts
And some Digimon couples as well, along with probably others I can't think of at the moment. It's just nice to read something that can be romantic, sexy, and different at the same time instead of just girl/boy stuff all the time.
I don't mind when people write yaoi fanfiction or something involving canonically straight couples, because, hell, it's just fanfiction. Every word of it is non-canonical, so why not change the romances around if it makes you happy? When people create web sites trying to convince other people that obviously straight characters really are a couple? That's just silly.
You know what I've noticed? When two male characters are close friends (Hiei/Kuruma, Kenshin/Sanosuke, Daisuke/Ken, etc), yaoi fangirls take it as proof that they're really gay, because, OMG they're so close. And when two male characters can't stand each other (Saitou/Sanosuke, Goku/Vegita, Zelgadis/Xellos, Harry/Draco in the non-anime front, etc), it's also taken as evidence that they're crushing for each other, because ... Jesus, I don't know why. I don't don't think that there's any way two male characters can interact with each other without someone taking it as conclusive proof that they're both gay.

And as far as I'm concerned anyone and everyone is free to fantasize as much as they please. When you like a certain couple, you shouldn't try to convince anyone that they're gay. Unless they're fellow yaoi people...When you like a certain couple it's natural to be happy to see images of them together.
If you're interested in a certain pairing, it's natural that you start finding hints to prove your theory, just don't force it on non-yaoi fans. 'Cause I'm not gonna lie, I didn't even think about yaoi till I met one of my friends who I discovered later was a yaoi freak. I thought Sora/Kairi was a cute couple before my friend analyzed it and found her "hints". Then I became a fan and started finding my own.

lol, ok sry...let me try and re-explain that. i'm not saying characters are "gay" or "supposed to be together". and i totally agree that the male characters can and are probablly just really close/good friends. i'm just putting in there that some of the way, that a certain scene or display of emotion is made to another character in an anime can sometimes be misleading. and im not saying characters are secretlly put together. what im trying to say is that, if by chance someone did want to try and say/make certain characters gay, make sure they have some chemistry. like heero&duo or quatre&trowa. im not saying they're originally gay or not [tho for my opinion, i think there was a type of yaoi/"chemistry" between 3 and 4] its just that have it make sense, not just "oh, these 2 are my fav, i wish they were together and i want them to have sex".

And that's EXACTLY what I'm talking about. The fanfiction I don't really mind that because it's just made-up by fans (hence it's name FanFICTION), but when you start creating websites trying to "prove" that your favorite yaoi "couple" are totally gay for each other that's when I start looking like 馃え. And it's especially stupid when one or both of the guys involved has a female love interest. It's like...'girl whatever it is you're puffin' on, give it up...ASAP!' I try to be cool, but it's getting overbearing, for real.
Like my number one favorite anime guy is Yzak. My second is Dearka.
