Not anymore. He's an Avenger. Instead of tackling girlfriend problems and Doctor Octopus on the fly, he's flying around on a jet with Captain America. He's lost the everyman persona years ago.

Two words: Avengers Stipend.

It seems like you didn't read it; but recently Spiderman's house was destroyed by a villain and Tony promised to take care of him, MJ, and Aunt May since Spiderman is in the Avengers. (And well, he's earned it.)

It's not a question of earning. It's just a question of his character nowadays. To me it went like this to Spider-Fans:

Spider-Man: Oh god, no! My house! My life is RUINED! Ruined I tell you!

Spider-Fans: Finally, some action!

Iron Man: Oh, you poor thing. Why don't you live in my multi-billion tower complete with plasma screen TVs, fully-automated refridgerators, an indoor pool and 24/7 access to Internet porn?

Spider-Man: Boo-ya!

Spider-Fans: Crap...

Mary Jane: Yes! I KNEW there was some reason I married this loser!

Aunt May: Oh, Peter. I'm sick again! I have this deblitating disease that will kill me in....

Reed Richards: Here.

Aunt May: I'm cured! Saints above!

Spider-Fans: *groans*

THAT was a good potential for Spider-Man. There could have been hundreds of storylines that was not only new and fresh but a commentary on his past. But unfortunately Bendis ruined it....

So, I don't see how all that constitutes as rich. If anything, he's in major debt.

Again. Avengers stipend. Haggling Tony Stark for money isn't so bad either.

He's not famous for being an Avenger yet either. As far as I know, the New Avengers still havn't gone public and the government hates their guts.

Yes, I'm sure that Daily Bugle paper featuring the New Avengers capturing Electro doesn't count....

The problem is that once the Avengers goes OFFICIALLY public than Spider-Man will become famous. And loved. And Jameson won't be able to do sh** about it. ANYONE who stands and fights with the Avengers and more particularly CAPTAIN AMERICA, is going to get nothing but good press. And seeing a Spider-Man float during an Avengers parade is just wrong. He most certainly DESERVES it...but it's just wrong. Spider-Fans want to see Spider-Man struggling with everyday problems that we experience. That's who Spider-Man is and should be. Not camping out in Stark's pimphouse and flying around in a jet saving the world from Sauron.

He's infamous throughout New York still though; but that has always been the norm.

Which is temporary until the New Avnegers make a public appearance. Spider-Man standing with the Avengers? Good press.

Energy feeding but his body was still there. Doesn't sound like eating to me.

There is no more Avengers Stipend.

Read new Avengers. They do it for free now.

There has never been any mention of any Stipend whatsoever in New Avengers.

However, it has been explicity stated that Tony can not fund the Avengers like he used to.

It has also been stated multiple times that there will be no Avengers paycheck. No dealing with the government or politics. Just helping people now.

And getting free housing from Tony Stark does not = rich no matter how many times you say it.

I got news for you buddy, Avengers = bad press now. The public still remembers "Avengers Dissasembled". Wanda ruined their little ride.

Yeah..THAT'll last.

Spider-Man: Tony, I REALLY appreciate you taking me into your lovely mult-billion dollar pimp..er..penthouse. But I kinda need a salary....

Luke Cage: Yeah, yo, we need some mo-nay for shizzle, ya dizzle?....*rambles off some indecipherable Ebonical phrase*...ya heard?

Iron Man: ..... right. Listen, Peter. I'm a little tight on money. I'm only worth about 8 billion dollars these days. Besides I GIVE you money when you need it...

Spider-Man: Yeah but MJ's going out with her girlfriends name Paris or whatever and she needs a Gucci handbag, a Louis Vuitton shoes and...hold on I have a list...

Luke Cage: Yo, cracker. My wife is pregnant with a kid, ya know? Can you just give a brother a working salary to feed my kid? He gonna need a pair Reeboks when he's born...

Iron-Man: Guys, please. I already said I'm tight on money. I mean I can only afford a Malaysian island these days. Back than, I could have bought three of them from Greece.

Spider-Man: .....Look, Tony. I'm really in a jam. MJ's totally busting my balls here. I NEED a salary. Like, I don't know, $100,000 per world-saving. Discounts on Wednesdays.

Luke Cage: For real, dawg! We in some need dinero! I need some new rims for my BMW! And that sign-language monkey of there...

Spider-Man: Luke, that's not a monkey. That's Echo.

Luke Cage: Oh.

Iron-Man: FINE! I'll pay Peter, $100,000 per day. Echo, $70,000 per day and Luke Cage, $37.00 per hour for a 4 hour day.

Spider-Man: Yay!

Echo: *slaps hands erratically*

Luke Cage: Alright, that's what I'm talkin' about..........waitaminute.

Jarvis: Would you like some caviar with that tuna sandwich, Mister Parker?

Spider-Man: Is it from France?

Jarvis: No, actually it's from Spain..

Spider-Man: Than get it out of my face! I only eat FRENCH caviar, you flea-bitten pedestrian!

Jarvis: Yes, sir.

Spider-Man: And make yourself useful and get that video I ordered off the counter.

Jarvis: Brazilian Sluts From Cunnilugus Academy or Big Black Ass-Slapping Fun#7?

Spider-Man: Uh....the last one.

I'm not following. I distinctly remembering the public, humping their legs not to disband....

I understand your disappointment draco, and I don't like his stint with the Avengers either...but he's been the everyman since the 60's. I don't really mind the new persona...and this whole evolution thing might still turn out interesting. The scans were certainly...graphic and shocking.

P.S. Big Black Ass-Slappin' Fun #7. That was by far the pinacle of the ass-slappin' series...LOL.

To me, this is like the "feral" Wolverine from the nineties. It sucked. HARD. I really hope they go back to his roots.

I agree. ✅

😂 great dialogue draco 😂

don't worry, Peter won't be rich forever. it will go back to normal but his new powers will be there...................

I want to see Draco make one of those distracting dialogues to a DC thread.

Nobody makes threads about any of their stories other than IC though..
🙁

Too bad.

So I take this as your concession about being wrong about the Avengers Stipend?

Can we get one for all that Silver Samurai nonsense you spouted too?

No. Can we take this a concession about you loving and defending EVERY Marvel storyline somebody doesn't like...?

What was I supposed to think? Silver Samurai in armour with sword in hand. They fought ninjas and a C-grade Sauron. Silver Samurai wouldn't be too far off the map.

For some odd reason, you seem to jump to the defense of every Marvel storyline. Guess what? Some people think some of the storylines sucked. A majority of us didn't like House of M. A majority of us think Spder-Man losing his eye and becoming a energy-leecher is quite silly. And I think damn near everyone of us think that Wolverine should stick to ONE team and not join every damn superhero group just because he feels like it.

I think the original Crisis was boring and too confusing for my tastes. The new Crisis has more action but it is just as confusing as the last one. You need a friggin Sparknotes to follow it. 😆

Just ask Psylocke... or Colossus...

I'm not a die-hard comics fan, and that may be why I'm excited about Spidey's recent changes. 😬

You don't speak for any majority.

I'm not so much defending the storyline as much as I am defending against your bashing with false facts and assumptions. You've done it repeatedly; so i've had to respond repeatedly.

I'm not saying, "The Other" is the greatest Spiderman storyline ever.

I'm saying Spiderman is not rich.
The Avengers do not have a stipend
and so on.

I wouldn't have to clarify things if you'd actually do some research before you post.

The Silver Samurai? You made a HUGE assumption about it and laughed and bashed the New Avengers on multiple posts based on the assumption. Well, it turns out you were wrong. So what have you learned about making assumptions? You should have gone with your gut instinct. (SS is no match for the Avengers) At the time, I let it go because I didn't want to be a dick about it. Maybe I should have said something then too.

You nit-pick and bash a Marvel story any time you get the chance; much of the time, for asinine reasons (HoM Rogue marring Marvel continuity) . If you did the same thing for DC I wouldn't have to call you on it so much. But you don't, and I feel that someone should say something about it.

Could be worse. . but I agree, this power up is rather disapointing. . .

Now all we need is some power hungry psycho somehow gets their hands on Spiderman and uses that oh so rare so that means everyone has it adamantium bonded to those bone protrusions. . . 🙁

Again. Why is my opinion of a storyline considered bashing? You like the New Avengers? Fine. Unfortunately most of us like Sentry, Ion, and longpig feel that it's quite ridiculous. Once again, I just don't like the storylines you like. You make it seem like the greatest thing next to sliced bread but I just feel some of the storylines are kinda cheap and a divergance from the original schemata that Kirby and Lee so masterfully employed.

You have this tendency to defend any and all Marvel storyline with a cult-like persona that is disturbing as it is amusing...

True. It's not anywhere close to that department. The greatest Spider-Man storylines are long past. Now we're stuck with a one-eyed, stinger-protruding, energy-feeding Spider-Man that snarls alot....

I don't research. I read. This is coming from the guy who doesn't research nor read much of DC? Hyprocrite.

Again. What was I supposed to think. SS fully decked out in armour with a sword in hand. A cliffhanger that fully suggested a upcoming battle. And a history of battling second-stringers like the Wrecker and Sauron.

Thank god. As if the New Avengers needed any more humilation.

Neither was Sauron and the Hand ninjas...yet they managed to give the New Avengers trouble...

And Bendis has a tendency to put B-grade characters in the spotlight.

No. Dear. The only one being a dick is you. You're a Marvel fanboy. You defend and love every Marvel storyline with fanatical ravishings. You don't like criticisms or bad opinions of the said storyline. So you immediately come to its defense like an abused Rottwiler.

You have better grammar, spelling and paragraph structure. But really in my eyes, you're no different from Wolverine8888.

Another example of your cultish, fanatical devotion to Marvel. This is just amusing, really.

Actually to diverge off-topic, the reason for the Rogue thing was because Bendis originally intended Rogue to be the next Genis-Vell and become a cosmic character (*shudders at thought*). But the editorial team, thankfully, made Bendis fix it.

And I didn't like HoM. Most of us didn't like HoM here. I'm not alone in this aspect. And while I respect your like for HoM, you should know that you're very along in this aspect as well. The reason I didn't like HoM was because what I believed to be poor writing and obscure plotlines. Also I recognize it as simply a ploy to "fix" Grant Morrison's take on the X-Men. Which I think is just low...

Actually I do...but you never seem to take a step in DC-themed threads. If you're allergic or something, I'll digress. For example, I thought Identity Crisis was sh**. I also think Batman is a sh** character nowadays and should die. There, happy.

Honey, it often goes like this between you and me or anyother person who didn't like a certain storyline.

See, 8bitChris. I'm not the only one who thinks this power-up sucks. Why don't you bash Creshok for a change? Or better yet DigiMark007 who also finds this storyline really lame... 🙄

*sneeze...

We dont know if his power ups will be energy sucking and the stingers.
Guys just wait and see how it will end. I am reading Spidey for almost 15 years. There were good stories and bad stories.

Personally it is okay when Spidey has some changes in that way.
Spidey loved by the people? Hell why not he is risking his life for years
a little fame and respect wouldnt be bad. And since when it is a falut when someone has a good life.

Draco I really cant understand you but it is your opinion and i have to respect that.
