He's still an everyman.
Not anymore. He's an Avenger. Instead of tackling girlfriend problems and Doctor Octopus on the fly, he's flying around on a jet with Captain America. He's lost the everyman persona years ago.

Spiderman is FAR from rich. He doesn't even have a job. How is he making any money?
Two words: Avengers Stipend.

He's mooching off Tony Stark.
ANYONE who mooches of Tony Stark, I consider to be rich...

It seems like you didn't read it; but recently Spiderman's house was destroyed by a villain and Tony promised to take care of him, MJ, and Aunt May since Spiderman is in the Avengers. (And well, he's earned it.)
It's not a question of earning. It's just a question of his character nowadays. To me it went like this to Spider-Fans:
Spider-Man: Oh god, no! My house! My life is RUINED! Ruined I tell you!
Spider-Fans: Finally, some action!
Iron Man: Oh, you poor thing. Why don't you live in my multi-billion tower complete with plasma screen TVs, fully-automated refridgerators, an indoor pool and 24/7 access to Internet porn?
Spider-Man: Boo-ya!
Spider-Fans: Crap...
Mary Jane: Yes! I KNEW there was some reason I married this loser!
Aunt May: Oh, Peter. I'm sick again! I have this deblitating disease that will kill me in....
Reed Richards: Here.
Aunt May: I'm cured! Saints above!
Spider-Fans: *groans*

THAT was a good potential for Spider-Man. There could have been hundreds of storylines that was not only new and fresh but a commentary on his past. But unfortunately Bendis ruined it....

So, I don't see how all that constitutes as rich. If anything, he's in major debt.
Again. Avengers stipend. Haggling Tony Stark for money isn't so bad either.

He's not famous for being an Avenger yet either. As far as I know, the New Avengers still havn't gone public and the government hates their guts.
Yes, I'm sure that Daily Bugle paper featuring the New Avengers capturing Electro doesn't count....
The problem is that once the Avengers goes OFFICIALLY public than Spider-Man will become famous. And loved. And Jameson won't be able to do sh** about it. ANYONE who stands and fights with the Avengers and more particularly CAPTAIN AMERICA, is going to get nothing but good press. And seeing a Spider-Man float during an Avengers parade is just wrong. He most certainly DESERVES it...but it's just wrong. Spider-Fans want to see Spider-Man struggling with everyday problems that we experience. That's who Spider-Man is and should be. Not camping out in Stark's pimphouse and flying around in a jet saving the world from Sauron.

He's infamous throughout New York still though; but that has always been the norm.
Which is temporary until the New Avnegers make a public appearance. Spider-Man standing with the Avengers? Good press.
