my original position was that hulk should potentially be stronger due to the fact that the gem was ltd to drawing upon power from only one single universe. hulk drew from another dimension that was believed to be limitless. beyonder confirmed it. i THOUGHT there was a scan that said or showed that hulk could be as strong as he NEEDED to be, that his strength was only ltd by his imagination. therefore, i posited that HULK's limit was greater than the gem's. i THINK i'm still of that opinion....

The other gems were also at work during that scene, so not only was the shield hit with power, but it was also altered by reality, and the other powers that the gauntlet possessed. The Power Gem is supposed to grant its wielder infinite power, so I'm under the impression that it could ultimately allow it's wielder to reach heights of power/strength that the Hulk could never dream of reaching. However it depends on the gems wielder, and as such, on average the Hulk has outdone the power that has been granted by the gem to several of its wielders.

he made time portals so he had time/space gems active but wasn't aware of future events, among other gem usages, like creating that fungal growth that killed namor and them

the issue isn't that the other gems amped his strength, just that they were being used as well. he could have damaged the shield by more means than simply using the strength granted by the pg....
personally, i also see wbh being able to at least do as much damage as thanos did to the shield....

Yup, WBH could most certainly do what Thanos did to the shield.
The reality gem can actually be used to damage things as well.
The time gem can be used to speed up the punch for more power.

Thanos stated that he would retain limitless power but would not know his enemies next move. Like psycho said he was still using other abilities granted by the other gems though. That .05% chance for victory for the heroes accounts for him simply not knowing what's coming next.
