Miami Vice

I can live with Colin Farrell as Crocket, but I'm not so sure about Foxx as Tubbs. Either way, it'll be a kick ass movie.

Is it good?

The action was amazing.

The acting was awesome

However, the story was weak and boring.

I didnt know what the hell was going on in most of the talking scenes, and frankly I didnt care. Expecially any of the scenes with Colin Farrell and his love intrest.

About half the theater walked out because 50% of the movie is just this crap.

However, the ending and the begining were awesome. ✅

i saw the trailer and its been a while since a trailer's got me this excited about a movie...

i'm hoping it lives up to it...

im not saying your lying but im gonna guess thats a HUGE exageratio nthat half the theater walked out.

The story has definitely been done before. And the movie actually sorta moves slow. But mann does a good enough job wiht it and the visuals are great.

Whats it about? I want to see it sometime, but from those posts it doesnt look too good😬

"Based on the hit 1980's television show, "Miami Vice" follows the exploits of vice squad detectives Crockett (Colin Farrell) and Tubbs (Jamie Foxx) in the seedy underworld of Miami and beyond as they get dragged into a complex undercover operation to bring down a drug kingpin (Luis Tosar) and his criminal empire.

While the "Miami Vice" show was known for its stylishness--often above and beyond its characters and stories--"Miami Vice," though still very stylish, is every ounce a Michael Mann crime film, with as strong an emphasis on character and performance as on visual style. The story itself isn't particularly original; Crockett and Tubbs deal with the problems of going deep undercover, particularly Crockett as he finds himself falling for the kingpin's aide-de-camp (Li Gong), and as their personal lives keep getting more and more tied up with their professional responsibilities. It's old hat, but Mann does it very well."

Well I saw the first showing so there were only like 7 people in the theater besides me and my freind.

And 3 or 4 guys left the movie due to the constant blabbering on with Colin Farrel and that chick.

Seriously Mann should have just cut out the middle and went from Begining to End, because those are the awesome parts.

Especially because of how badass Jamie Foxx is in the fight scenes 😎

so was there a lot of action... I dont want to see it if there isnt very many action scenes

I hope from whats been siad it ain't that bad the series was bad ass I liked the intro I don't think they could make it any better than the oldskool Miami Vice

There is a small action scene in the begining and some explosions and good stuff like that, however after that you have to deal with 60 minutes of a bland boring plot and the stupid relationship with Colin Farrell and some chick (I forget her name).

However there are a couple of awesome action scenes in the last 45 movies.

The last fight sequence was amazing 😄

they took the name and the character names from the tv show and thats about it. other than that its not based on anything.

Meh, looks like a rental for a rainy night.

.....And you went to see Lady in the Water. 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

how was the score? was there as much of that hip hop crap as shown in the trailers? usually the music plays a big part in Mann's movies..was this any different?

The SCORE is GREAT!! It was a good movie, some of the things done reminded me of the TV show. Most of the time I saw Jamie and Colin, not Crockett and Tubbs. Rarely do you see Crockett and Tubbs and not Jamie and Colin. The chick that plays Gina is BAD A$$!!!!!! Didn't care for the black chick that played Trudy 🙁

P.S. The song Auto Rock by Mogwai at the end of the movie is OMG!!!!! I got the soundtrack just for it.

I just saw the movie, and my attitude leaving the theater was "what the hell did I just see?" I'm a huge Michael Mann fan, having seen all of his films, and I consider one of his most difficult to analyze, "The Insider", to be my favorite.

But like several people have mentioned before, most of the time I kept thinking in the movie just what was going on. Was I missing something between scenes. The dialogue was very cryptic and in some cop-code, so that most of the time it was lines like "There's undercover, and then there's which way is up". I don't mind cool catch phrases like that, but it seemed like every other line from the two leads was something like that. After a while it got pretty annoying.

And another little nit-pick, what's the deal with that digital camera making some night shots look so grainy. I fail to see the miracle of the digital camera used in this film, if it can't even capture night shots crystal clear. (At least film can do that). It made certain scenes stand out to the extreme, and not on the good side when scenes would shift from crystal clear clarity to grainy.

But Michael Mann, as usual, has his actors give great performances, and no director alive can match the coolness of the environments he surrounds his characters in. On the look alone Miami Vice gets 10 stars. And the soundtrack was awesome. Mann has the greatest tastes when it comes to picking which music plays on which scenes. But as for the confusing storyline and bad dialogue, it gets a 5 out of 10.

Such a bummer too. I was so looking forward to this one. Hopefully Mann returns to his glory in the next pic.
