Agree. Haven't seen the movie yet, but Foxx doesn't feel right at Tubbs.
this movie isnt really about the show at all though. THey took the names of characters, the name miami vice, and thats it. most of the film does not take place in Miami, nor does it have anything to do with the vice squad or with vice in general (except in some vague, thematic way). If it weren't based off an old television show, the title wouldn't make any sense at all.
Ok, saw this, and...
all style, very little substance... good action, as rare as it was... like, first ten mins, last 30 mins... everything else is colin farrell seducing an asian woman who can barely speak english, and yes, given my leniency when it comes to asian women she was awful. So yeah, she was crap... and the nudity made so much of an attempt to be tasteful there ended up being very little of it, especially where the women are concerned. ill be happy if i never have to look at jamie foxx's backside again though...

I really didn't like it. I thought the acting was awkward. And the plot was simply irrevelant. The camera annoyed the crap out of me though. A camera is supposed to draw you into the movie, if you are aware of the camera, and its movements, then your detracting from the movie and bringing you out of the experiece and that happened far too much. And too many scenes looked like Joe Smith shot them with his handheld. This isn't Blair witch, damn.
The only good thing about this movie is the action was well done, but still, one of the poorer movies I've seen.
Ooo, probably should post this here...
Oh, Mann...I just got back from Miami Vice. It's easily the best movie I've seen this year. It was incredibly stylish and unbelievably cool. It was almost like seeing myself in movie-form.
Great movie. Farrell was excellent, and the drug king pin was more menacing and malevolent than any 'baddie' I've seen in the last few years.

I was into it from the first beat of the Jay-Z/Linkin Park track, Encore/Numb. I hate everything else Linkin Park have ever done, but that remix fits the scene perfectly.

Obviously not everyone will agree with me, but I find Michael Mann's movies to be as close to cinematic perfection as it is possible to get. I just dig the style, music and colors he uses. All his movies are just so damn cool.Miami Vice is definitely one of his coolest.
