It was quite funny watching Doom carry out brain surgery with a chainsaw.
Given that Hulk's HF should regrow the brain or reattach the hemispheres instantly, this of course required a willingness to forget elementary attributes of the Hulk powerset. Either that or to accept the idea that Hulk can turn off the HF in a localised way.
You can tell that the gamma bomb will obliterate Banner and force him back into Hulk again. So this story seems like its coming to an anti-climax. That said, the build-up wasn't anything special. A small mystery (figured it was Doom, as soon as I saw the shady figure) and ...
I was hoping it was some cosmic entity that was responsible for the split, but with it being Doom it'll all get a little boring soon... the eventual revelation being that Banner could have split out the Hulk any time he wanted, just subconsciously never wanted to be less than he was with his Hulk aspect.

It happened off panel...we don't know what Doom did to keep the wound open.

It was stupid, but meh ... this 'adventure' is coming to its pointless end soon.
Sadly this whole Island of Dr. Moreau rip-off Hulk arc has been quite mediocre.
I wish they'd go back and pick up Hulk from the period during M-Day, after he'd been chilling with the aborigines in Australia and harmonising his soul's many aspects.
