It's a Bendis story, whoever needs to lose for his plot to move on will lose even if it's not at all believable.
My biggest disappointment is how lazy he's gotten with Thor. Look at how he potrayed Thor this year compared to the last few years. Thor fought aliens, Apocalyse, Galactus back to back in continuous issues and bounced back up every time looking badass, owned Atlas and was generally the obvious powerhouse etc. Took on Hela, Bor, Midgard Serpent and a bunch of other people at his higher levels; his lowest showing was being taken out by the full power of Sentry, Iron Patriot, U-Foes etc. which is hardly that bad because he had them explicitly state that they'd need to hit him with their full power and would need surprise.
Now he gets one shotted by some random laser in Avenger's Assemble. Either he got lazy or editorial forced him to make Thor look bad, the latter is a bit outlandish and I don't think anyone cares tbh.
It's the same shit that he did with the Sentry which is one of the reasons his stock dropped. At least with him, his powers being purely psychological gave him an out.
Heroic Age Thor was pretty impressive under Bendis. Avengers Assemble was just crap through and through, and not just in terms of power levels, but the story as well. It was designed to turn a quick buck because of the movie and it's easy to see. Now that he doesn't have to worry about catering to movie fans, I think he'll do a decent job with Ultron based on his history with the character.
Last we saw Ultron, the dude...er, robot no sold a Mjolnir shot to the dome while not being ready or fully powered to face the Avengers as a whole. He's probably gonna be a feat monster in this event.

I know what you're talking about but they were weakened ultrons iirc. Thor did it also. and it's questionable whether it was canon or not.
Yeah, the Avengers were fighting them world wide. IIRC, Ironman stated they were exact copies of Ultron and Thor did take one out but Hulk one punched dusted one.
