Avengers vs. Starbrand and Nighthawk:

Thor, Hulk and Hyperion are clearly intended to be the big guns of the team but that's hardly a surprise. No one really stands out except Thor with the opening shot.

Nice, but you left out one scan, the conclusion (thanks Comicvine) :

And people laughed when I said Hickman's SB was only high herald level. Knocked on his ass by a jobber, an ogre, and a bad Superman clone. Ugh 😘

He was knocked on his ass by three heralds - two of which have had historically great feats as well as good recent ones and the other, Hyperion, is being pushed to be at least in their general league - and apparently was only holding back and had no real injuries to show for it.

That's not a bad showing for any fresh freshed noob with high end cosmic power.

It's been a while since I've read anything with Apocalypse in it. Has he ever worn Celestial Armor or been a direct servant of their will like in this issue? I guess in the future he falls out of favor with them and is stripped of their gifts?
his nature as their servant was retconned into his history back when he made gambit into a horsemen. this has been further explored in uncanny x-force. the celestial death seed transformed him into a gardener of sorts that weeds out the weak periodically so that mutants are pushed further into ascension into godhood as replacements of the abstracts (as per x-men forever)

So Apocalypse is outfitted with "indestructible" armour, also is said to be capable of killing Thor in 2 blows and appears to have the strength advantage, yet both are pierced by the axe and it's Apoc that runs away? 🙄

Apoc came across b!tch made compared to Thor.

Sounds about right.

Yea, it's pretty crazy how that axe toss from Apocalypse only knocked Thor off his feet and barely broke skin. Thor had it enchanted into one of the most powerful weapons in the Marvel Universe (Kang even uses it to take over the Earth in the future), pretty nice durability feat that.

Also, despite what the narration said, Thor took tanked all the attacks like a champ. He left his encounter with Apocalypse without so much as a bruise.

He took on the entire Avengers line up and held his own while holding back and being a complete and utter noob.

How in the hell is that only High Herald level?

Thor and Hulk are two of the most powerful heroes to ever exist in comics. And Hyperion is being written right up there with them (And Superman in power). He's actually a good Superman clone.

Not my favorite part, but it's fine. It was made clear that Thor never runs, and he only took a brief intermission because Apocalypse was wearing indestructible armor.

He still, killed the four horsemen, broke into Apocalypse's ship and sent him running. That would take the X-men their entire roster, prep, and luck to accomplish.

He did all of this fighting as a brick, didn't use so much as even a storm cloud. And I don't even know if he was out of his teens yet.

I think we all should focus on Kang getting into Asgard without being noticed and manipulating the crap out of everyone. Notice the difference between an unexperienced Kang facing Apocalypse, and this new Rama-Tut.

Anyways, the confrontation between Thor and Apocalypse was much better than expected.

Yeah, Kang was the real winner at the end of that arc.

Btw, how badly did you cum while reading that issue with Kang in it?

thor is gettin the respect he deserves......!!

He has been in his own titles ever since he came first came back in '07. The only real "low points" have mostly been due to Bendis being Bendis as far the Avengers franchise goes and AvX (which still had some good Thor feats).

his avx defeats werent low feats either. the pf is far above herald level, even 1/5 of it.

This, too.

Most of the people who aren't just trolling or having fun and are seriously of the opinion Thor got nerfed or his low showings greatly outnumber his average and high ones don't even read his self titled book or minis....which makes perfect sense to do if you want to have an informed stance on a character. 😂

That's like getting all your recent information about Spider-Man from solely the Avengers books and flat out ignoring Dan Slott's run.

AvX wasn't pretty but it wasn't horrible either. A lot of his low showings recently stem from him being shoe-horned into basically any Avengers group setting because he's one of the Big Three. If a writer doesn't want Thor there but has to because he's part of the brand, is going to take him out of the picture. Whether it's by a brick or an exploding Sun. A few years ago, Sentry suffered from a lot of this too.

Also, his showings against Phoenix were bomb. And the only Top Tier to sustain anywhere near the beating Thor did (Gladiator) was left hospitalized, comatose, on life support, and near death for the entire event.

I cummed so hard that it traveled into the future, it may be hitting the wall sometime soon.

Thor's skin > Celestial Armor

That was a pretty sick fight 👆 Apocalypses headbutt was friggin beastly.

^I think that was implied when Thor beat that chick who was a wannabe Celestial-slayer?
