Thor gets to beat Surfer because Thor is immensely more popular. It also suits the story. It seems like every few years writers bring back the Surfer due to him stagnating for some time. Surfer pops up in a Thor book or story revolving around Thor (another reason why he gets to beat the Surfer) and they have Thor defeat SS. (What are the writers going to do? Have Surfer beat Thor in Blood & Thunder's second book? That would wrench up the story)

^^That's called PIS

As Janus already pointed out, Thor is always ready for a fight. Surfer may claim he is going all out, but he never shows it unlike Thor. It's funny how Surfer forgets all his powers, that he uses regularly, yet Thor fights Surfer like Thor fights everyone.

^^That's called CIS

So basically, Thor only beats Surfer by PIS and CIS.

Disgusting

LoL Thor fights Surfer like he fights everyone. Which means he forgets all the shit mjolnir can do and just smashes shit with it.

😂

Yeah, Thor only ever beats Surfer because of popularity as that's clearly what writers ultimately consider to be important when penning fights. Who's more popular. What a ridiculous argument. You should be ashamed of yourself. Thor's more popular, but he's not Batman.

What an astoundingly dumb point. Thor fights Surfer like he fights every other Herald and Surfer fights Thor like he does every other Herald. Norrin uses his board and blasts him with Power Cosmic, Thor uses his hammer to bash his face in.

That's literally all they ever do. Stop pretending as if Thor's cutting loose any more then Surfer does. The bottom line is that Mjolnir > Power Cosmic and Thor > Surfer in close combat which is why his usual methods don't cut it against Thor. Ultimately that puts him at a disadvantage.

One day I hope Surfer uses CBR like versatility such as making black holes or whatever nonsense gets his fanboys hard. Just so Thor counters it all with Mjolnir and we never have to hear it brought up again.

lol, so Surfer himself is a forum myth at this point.

Anyway, guys, no debating. Not in here anyway. Not the thread for it.

For those curious, the last time we saw the two side by side, was in the annual. And surprise, surprise, Thor looked -arguably- more impressive. He was even the one pulling off the versatility powers:

In a mere moment, Thor's consciousness regenerates after surviving an onslaught from the Other's hive agent which should have caused total collapse. His will even impresses Oblivion:

For some comparison, only a small fragment of that force brings Surfer to his knees:

Thor regains himself and creates an Anti-Vortex that resists the pull of the Other's consciousness/Universe in contrast to Surfer:

Thor's spirit is so potent, that absorbing him into his being will add immeasurably to the Other's power:

Mjolnir is able to protect them from an assault from the Other/Scrier/Galactus and channels the power of Rachel/Surfer/Thor into the other 3:

For those who don't know, the Other and Scrier are two Cosmic Beings on the level of Galactus who were destroying creation/reality in a three way fight:

you're an adult and you're getting butthurt about a comic character?

😐

Take your ad hominem somewhere else. For the record, this post would carry a lot more weight if your original post wasn't the equivalent of you crying about how Marvel bullies Surfer because Thor is more popular. I'm not the one who's butthurt here bro.

lol. another emotional response. I wouldn't cry about it because although I enjoy comics, I realize it's not that serious and I have a life to live. I was merely pointing out how i see things. just my opinion; I don't bash you for yours in the vs forum do I?

you're using words like bully, crying etc about a freaking comic book fight? 🤣 this is so childish for a grown man.

Stop wasting time trying to get some kind of outcry from me by trolling, you're not good enough. All you're going to accomplish is getting yourself a warning.

Yeah, my bad. I'm done. To get back on topic:

Not only did they wreck the planet, take a good look at the top right moon. It's shattered.

From the scans you've provided, I feel like some parts of the scans were interpretted just a litte too favorbly for Thor:

-the "small fraction" that brought Surfer "to his knees" is kinda affecting Thor just as badly.
-the "protection" that you say is "coming from Mjolnir" actually came from Surfer at first (the force field looks like it emanated from his hand) and they simply channeled their combined power in order to reinforce it (w/c makes sense as they needed to combine their powers and Mjolnir functioned as a focusing instrument). Impressive force field "feat" for the Surfer.

Uru-colored glasses will do that.

^Surfer fans need a support group at this point.

Not really as Thor's clearly still on his feet in comparison to Surfer who's on his knees:
http://www.turboimagehost.com/p/16128471/Thor_Annual-Zone_019.jpg.html

Thor was rendered unconsciousness earlier but that was when he was bombarded by the entire host and he was able to regrow his will immediately after.

What are you talking about? Where do you see the force field emanating from his hands? I wasn't quite sure who created the protection in the last scene or if they did it together but it looked similar to the force field Thor created earlier and a lot of emphasis was given on Mjolnir so I just went with that. I'm not going to argue if you don't want to apply the feat solely to Mjolnir as my interpretation is not conclusive but I have no idea why you'd do it for Surfer.

They were both in extreme pain. Thor was clutching his face, Surfer was on his knees. Both are simply reactions to extreme stimuli. They simply reacted differently to it. One is on his knees, the other is clutching his face in pain. Again, ppl who feel pain often react in different ways (ppl punched in the stomach double over in pain, ppl who get burned in the face often clutch it in agony).

Second panel. The art shows the emanating white light centered on the Surfer's "gesturing" hand.

No need to hate on Surfer so much, man. They both peers.

Poor Iron man xD
