Considering Im enjoying the apocalypse twins as villians as well as warren during his "survival of the fittest" stint Im wondering whether its just apocalypse that cant be written well.

Poccy was written well in Messiah War.

I always considered stryfe another garbage character so it really did nothing for me. When I think about it, I have never read an actual great story with apocalypse in it. Most of his appearances its usually ok at best. Considering his status as one of the x-mens big bads its surprising. I mean AOA was serviceable, the death gambit saga was horrid, and the first stryfe saga was forgettable.

I think Apocalypse was suppose to be written as a villain outside of the Xmen title. Marvel just didn't give him that luxury to shine like most villains. They are doing good with the characters now though.

Not only that its how bland they make him. In the dark angel saga warren had practically the same motivation yet I didnt role my eyes at his survival of the fittest shtick.

Frank actually ends up owning them in that book.

Fiiiiiiiiiiiine,

This should work

So darkseid killed and drained all of the old gods?

I would laugh if superman still stalemates him.

How powerful are those gods ABHI?

Why? Darkseid didn't seem to be any more powerful in that JLA arc then his average portrayal in Post Crisis. I'm talking about Apokolips Now power levels, not true form Final Crisis levels.

He came off dumber though IIRC. Too much stomping around like the Hulk for my liking. I like my Darkseid only resorting to brute force as a last resort and accomplishing most things with his intellect.

I sincerely hope Darkseid didn't kill the Old Gods of New Genesis before he had any powers and with some random spear. Hopefully it's some ancient weapon that can kill them or empower him.

He'd end up being the same 'ol Darkseid if that's the case.
This version is being built up to be a monster. I likes..

I don't mind if it's not some all powerful weapon. Looks like the Old Gods virtually killed themselves with that war.
He's pretty much scavenging the powers from their dying/weakened corpses.

When Darkseid first appeared in the DCnU, he easily knocked out the whole JLA just by crash landing where they were, IIRC.

Love the Darkseid look though.

Who is the artist?

Seriously? I remember him landing and knocking them back with a shock wave but that's it.

He looked tough but the JLA were holding their own and doing some serious damage such as Aquaman with his trident IIRC. Although the Omega Effect did one shot knock out Superman right? So they're pretty powerful. Tbf to Clark though, this was a very early version of Superman I believe.

I mean, he's powerful but when I think of an Old God, I'm thinking of a being capable of shitting on the JLA collectively with ease or something. At least at the start of the fight.

I thought some of them woke up, meaning that they were KO'd. Don't remember the whole thing, but they were merely an annoyance to Darkseid, who needed to be BFR by Cyborg.
